Have a Magnavox HDTV and all the channels come in black and white, except the HD channels. Other tvs work on the cable so it is not the connection. Also the dvd player plays in black and white on all A/V connections. Did the update of software still nothing. HD channels come in perfect but all others are black and white.

Record your model number and google software upgrades. if that doesn't work, ebay model number and look for main board.

Ok, ¡lo tengo!
I solved! Press Setup once. Then, press once the Right Arrow; (This will put you in "Video"); Press ENTER. Press twice, (2), the Down Arrow, (Now we are in "Video Out"),Press ENTER. Press three, (3), times the Down Arrow, then press twice the Up Arrow; ENTER. (You are now in S-Video).
From here you should have Video, now make sure that the TV System is in NTSC, or Automatic. LET ME KNOW IF IT WORKED FOR YOU AS IT DID FOR ME, PLEASE!

How do I connect old school dvd/vcr combo to LED HDTV?

Y is not compatible, it is one of the three inputs for "component" video which consists of Red, Green, Blue channels - RGB. The single yellow jack is "composite" video and the red and white are for audio. If your TV has HDMI inputs which are commonly used for HD TVs now, then you should be able to find an A/V adapter to convert the composite video and the audio to HDMI. HDMI carries sound as well as video. You may also find a composite to component adapter which will take the single composite signal from the combo device and break it into the 3 RGB signals for the TV. The thing is that the quality will not be HD for any of these, but then anything on VHS tape or home made DVDs will not be HD anyway. Try searching amazon and ebay, possibly newegg.

How do I get hd channels to show on sceptre 32 inch classic hdtv?

Silly question, but are you subscribed to the HD channels? Most cable companies include HD channels o higher tier subscriptions, and then require a different decoder box to get them.

Trying to connect Magnavox MWR 10D6 DVD/Recorder to Sanyo HDTV. TV is connected to Dish network through coax. cable.

Unfortunately, the Magnavox MWR10D6 recorder can not record HD signals. It's only video inputs are coax (RF) and composite video; both are limited to 480i (SD). NTSC (analog signals) are translated to video.

Your best recording option is to connect the composite video output of the Dish receiver to the video input (yellow for video, red and white for audio) of the recorder. Then set the receiver to the channel that you want to record and set the recorder to Line In.

HD recorders may exist. They are much more expensive than the SD versions.

I wish that I had better news for you. The manual for the MWR10D6 is available from Funai here: http://www.funai-corp.com/support/om/MWR10D6.pdf .

XBOX NOW PLAYS IN BLACK AND WHITE WITH OLDER TV DID WORK FINE AND DOES ON NEW HDTV ALL CABLES GOOD NOT SURE WHAT TO DO TO GET COLOR BACK

There is a switch that changes the video cable from SD( for use with older TV's without high definition connectivity) to HD (used for newer HD TV's with high definition.

If your older television is using a composite (yellow) connection for video, make sure the switch is in the SD position and NOT hd.

White/Grey screen with non-HD channels

I removed the HDMI cable and connected with component video and rca audio. No more white screen.

Picture quality looks good. I don't know if it's as good as HDMI, but then I don't need to reboot the TV three times to get to teh on-demand menu... Grrrrr....

I am trying to contact Toshiba on this as well. I have seen several reports of this problem on the web.

My dynex tv has digital channels but they are not audible

Use component cables instead of the HDMI cables. We had the same problem and that's how the cable guy fixed it. You use just the regular red, white, and yellow cables then the other 3 colors that are just for HD tvs.

Get closed captions on some channels, but not all, even though it is CC

RCA have choices for different methods of CC in user CC menu. Labelled T1, T2, etc. . Different selections are for different types of close caption. Tune to a signal (on your other TV) that has closed caption working.

Tune your RCA to the same signal. Change the T1,T2, etc settings until the closed caption for your signal appears.

If this doesn't work, try connecting analog video or VHF channel 3 (or other specified channel) to the TV. check CC. When TV stations, sat channels, sat receivers, cable boxes etc, convert analog video signals to HD, problems can result. Some equipment causes RCA TVs to do unexpected things with sound and closed caption.

If you use RF or video output, old analog video may look better on CH3 or video than on HD input and the CC will work more consistently. Watch HD signals on HD input, Analog signals on Video in or through the TV tuner . Many HD channels and programs are converted analog video and look poor on TV HD inputs.

Full screen view

in order to get the full HD experience you should be using HDMI cables. if you're using the white/red/yellow cables then your HD channels will not broadcast in full HD and you'll be stuck with the annoying black things around your screen

Westinghouse 32in HDTV-Ready

I called westinghouse with a similar problem(my picture shows up but all the white turns blue or somtimes pink).
they say the problem is similar to that of the xbox 360's red ring of death problem. Now what needs to be done is the unit needs to be unplugged completely for about 30 minutes. this allows the unit to completely cool down. and when the unit restarts and heats up the troubled connections will reflow and all will be fixed.
I tried this and it worked well for my TV. but it is only a temp fix and will need to be done again if the problem occurs.
