This happens yearly..usually it is the thermos couple needs cleaning..this year the pilot orfice itself was dirty and throwing a weak orange flame that was not even touching the thermo couple..I just gave the orfice a good cleaning and now the flame reached out as a long BLUE flame touching the thermo couple and it stayed lit on the first try

SOURCE: gas heater

Mae, It sounds like you may need a new thermocouple and maybe your pilot needs cleaning. If you are mechanically inclined, you can remove the old thermocouple and take it to Home Depot or Lowe's an they can fit it to a new one. To clean the pilot, you will need a can of air used for electronic equipment. Remove the pilot assembly and shoot a stream of air through where the gas line was hooked to it. This will dislodge any debris caught in the orifice. Do not shoot the air from the pointed end as it will blow out the pilot orifice and you will never find it. Using a soft wire brush or stiff tooth brush, scrub all other pilot components and make sure there is no carbon build up an anything.

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: glo warm wall heater will not stay lit

Hi Cindy,

It seems that your heater is not sensing the flame is lit and is shutting gas supply off. There should be what is called a flame sensor, it is a thin pc. of metal that sticks out into where the flame when lit.

This usually gets charred and dirty, if you unscrew it and clean it with a soft cloth then re-insert it, it will get you by. You should get a new sensor when you have a chance.

Good luck and be sure to disconnect from any power source or turn unit completely off when orking on it.

Thanks,
Paul

SOURCE: I have a glo warm

haven't had much to do with heater brand but have with pilots it sounds like the thermocouple is either not tightened into valve properly or that it needs replaceing they will burn out over time and usually just a simple replace will fix but you must call service agent if you are not yourself to do this for you as it may be the valve itself which means replaceing that which you must be quakified gas fitter to do even the thermocouple should be done by a competent person as it is a gas heater!

I light the piuolot button and when i let go of the pilot button the pilot goes out does not light burner wont stay lit

When you light the pilot lite you have to hold the button down until it gets the element hot enough to stay lit. If you hold down the button and lite the pilot and let it go right away it will go out. What to do is hold down the button and lite the pilot and continue to hold the buttn down for about 45 seconds to a minute then let it up very slowly and you will see if it is going to go out by the flame getting smaller as you let up on the button. If it does start to get smaller conitnue to hold it again for a few seconds and repeat the process of letting it up slowly. when the control element gets to the right temperature it will stay lit then turn your valve to "ON" and the fire will start up and continue to heat the water.

Heater won't stay lit after button release . Burner lites and heat builds but as soon as the valve button is realesed burner goes out. Even holding the button in for three minutes it still will go out.

Hey, make sure the flame is shooting past the thermocouple, this is what tells the gasvalve to say Ok , now you have a pilot lite, you can now send 24-volts to the main gas valve to open! If not , then you need to blow out the oxygen sensor and clean the pilot tube orrifice, that should do the trick...

Natural Gas wall heater

It sounds like the thermocoupler is either not adjusted into the flame properly, or you may have gotten a bad one. The thermocouple is the main thing that makes the pilot work.

Heater goes out after 10 to 30 seconds.

sounds like a blocked pilot when you turn on the main gas takes the gas away from the pilot and goes out

Glo-Warm Wall Gas Wall-heater parts...

We had a problem keeping the pilot light to stay on, and this site recommended that it could possibly be the thermocoupler that was causing our problems also. We ordered the thermocouple, put it on,hooked it back up and it worked great! Thank you so much.
