Fuzzy Hi! I am having problems adjusting the monitor. I had been using it as a television, now I have it hooked up to my new computer running Vista. It seems that items look fuzzy. Having problems adjusting contrast, clarity and I can't seem to find the manual. Please help. Thank you. Rosalyn

Thanks and you are right, I'm not comfortable doing that since I really don't have that type of experience.

  • msrozz Jul 31, 2008

I have no experience doing that. Plus, it seems the more I try to adjust it, as well as the size, etc. of the screen for Vista, the worse it becomes. It still looks great as a television, but not as a computer screen.

Also, I'm having problems adjusting it...the pincushion, and everything else. Is there a way to do a reset to factory condition?

    Thanks!

  • msrozz Aug 12, 2008

Okay, how do I reset it to factory specs.? The pincushion is out of whack and everything else since I have been trying to adjust it.

    Thanks!

Hi,

I have posted this response to similar problems.

Your display being fuzzy as you described is indicative of either:
a. weak picture tube; or
b. component failure or deterioration.

Even if it were a weak picture tube or deterioration, it is still possible to "squeeze" a few more usable time out of the monitor. You simply have to adjust the focus control. Normally, this is accessible from the rear of the electronic circuit board and is a part of the Flyback transformer (FBT). Below is an image of a sample FBT. Pls notice the two (2) protrusions, one of them is marked as Screen and the other as the Focus. You need to adjust the focus till it satisfies your visual requirement or preference.

A word of caution. This procedure is not recommended if you have no TV/Monitor repair experience. It is not a fix. It is as earlier stated, squeezing in just a few more usable time. The unit would have to be adjusted "live" with the cover off. You need to be familiar with electronic components, tools and circuitry as well as working with powered devices and extremely High Voltage. The monitor may have to be operated with insulated support since the back cover will not be attached. Additionally, you may need to use a mirror to check if you adjusted it as you want it.

As you try to adjust it with an insulated screwdriver, you will notice that there is mid point where the focus will just be about right. You may have to adjust a couple of times to get the setting as you want it.

Should you feel uncomfortable doing this, perhaps you may need to seek the assistance of a qualified TV/Monitor technician.

Hope this be of some idea/help. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

    Hi again,

Appreciate the update. Most experienced TV techs or computer monitor techs should be able to do that in a few minutes. It would take more time removing the casing/back cover than the actual alignment.

    Cheers.

The monitor is not registering that it's hooked up to a computer. It turns on, but the power light just blinks like it's in sleep mode or not connected to anything. I tried hooking it up to two different...

When its hook up to the computer, turn on both monitor and computer.

While the monitor is turn on, disconnect the vga cable. Will this display a No Signal error?

If yes, then a problem with the mainboard of the monitor, buy a new monitor.
If no, problem with the power supply section of the monitor. Replace the leaking and blown capacitors with same value.

Out of the blue, the icons on my desktop are fuzzy/wavy. One day fine, the next fuzzy/wavy. I hooked up another monitor and got the same result. Any suggestions!

I'm assuming that you have tested the other monitor by using another cable so in that case the video card on your pc is dying, replace it.

Go into monitor controls on monitor and adjust as they come up. Unhook monitor, power up computer, cut off, plug in monitor power up computer, right click on screen, settings, adjust for screen size and additional monitor by clicking 2 and saying yes in box. Hope this helps.

Fuzzy Picture

Fuzzy is a funny word. I never use it to describe a picture problem. That because fuzzy can go too many different ways. There is snowy fuzzy, blurry fuzzy, grainy fuzzy, and demodulated fuzzy. If the set goes out of focus intermittently that has something to do with the focus ciruitry. If it goes grainy that is a front end problem, usually tuner related. The other types of fuzzy are generally associated with problems in video processing some where. So, which is it?

Oh, and BTW that unit has three small picture tubes in it, one red, one blue, and one green. It doesn't have a 'bulb'.

Display problem

A fuzzy display is not likely to by caused by programs on your computer. Is this an LCD flat panel monitor or a regular CRT monitor?? If it's a CRT, the problem could be with the high-voltage power supply, which would need to be diagnosed by an experienced computer1.gif or electronics technician.

Check to see if there is a small focus knob on the back. If so try turning it back and forth three or four times to "clean" it....then adjust for correct focus.

Symptoms like this can also be caused by accumulated dust inside the monitor.
