I have a Sears Kenmoore Series 70 model 100 washing maching. It's 14 years old. The problem is it will not dran water into the machine when I start my laundry. It goes directly into agitation. No water will enter the machie. I've checked all pipes and hoses leading to the maching and all is fine. Any ideas? Thank you. Jim

The water-level switch regulates your washer's fill volume. This switch is usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. If the switch is defective, it may prematurely signal the water to shut off. If so, you probably need to replace the water-level switch.

I have a Kenmore Series 70 top loading wash machine that leaks. It is approx 12 years old, model 110.4767290 (canadian). It has a 2 inch crack in the bottom of the plastic tub. I tried filling with expoy...

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

The numbers following the 110 (which means it's made by Whirlpool) are usually 8 digits. Using the number that you provided, I couldn't find your washer on the Sears site. You will want to verify the number (usually by lifting the lid) and/or check for manuals / parts site from the following Sears site:

http://www.managemyhome.com/

Sears has replacement tubs (at least for my 12 year old top load for about $116.75 (U.S.) but you may be able to get one from Whirlpool for about the same cost. If you can get to the diagrams on the sears site. they often have "Manufacturer Authorized Substitutes) which are Whirlpool numbers.

FOR EXAMPLE, SEE THE SITE FOR OUR WASHER AND YOU'LL SEE EXAMPLES OF PARTS, DIAGRAMS AND COSTS.

In spinning mode inside tub hits outside tub of washing machine of Kenmore .70 series, two speed automotic washer.

hi,
thats a 35 year old washer. we had one for years. the springs have lost their tension. youll have to run smaller loads, you can try sears parts direct for springs but they may not have them. It may be time to retire it. keep it for a backup in case you new one has a problem..

It sounds as if your pump is bad.

See the following illustrated description of how to access and check / replace the pump.

Water does not shut off when filling a load with new lid switch

Hello friend, The guy at sears is wrong. All replacement water pressure/level switches for your washer model 70 series MUST have the clear tube replaced on them or the washer will not work. Re-install the clear tube on the new part and your problem will be no more. Happy to help.

I have a 21 year old Kenmore washing maching (model 82873800). It is leaking when it is filling up. The water is not coming from the hoses or the center shaft. When I lean the washer over, I can reach...

I'd go to the Sears parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?pop=true&modelNumber=110.82873800%29

and check the sub-components lists for a gasket or part under the tub that keeps the water from leaking.

With a 21 year old washer, it's likely that one of the rubber or plastic gaskets has finally worn.

Kenmore Series 70 washing machine whines and low flow on cold H2O

Yeah you need to replace the water valve. To get to it you need to remove the cabinet on the newer direct drive models, If yours has a rear access panel then you simply pop the top to get to the valve after removing the hoses. Fairly simple job. Here is a good website for direct drive coupling replacement . It shows you how to open the cabinet. http://repair2000.com/coupling.html
GVI 151 is the generic part that fix all belt drive models. Direct drive will need its own little water valve buy hay it ain't but 20 bucks.
For a better explanation post you model number in the comment box and I will research it further for you amigo.

Kenmore Washing Machine 70 series

You most likely have a broken coupler between the motor and gearcase.
You can buy the part for about $10 or have someone come out and replace it for about $150-200.
If you will post the complete model number from the the washer so I can see which style cabinet you have, I will try to walk you through the repair. It isn't very complicated if you are handy with home repairs.
With the age of the machine it probably just needs a coupler, but it could also have a problem in the transmission or basket drive that has caused the failure.
