Hi michael, my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. Check your antenna system. Check your SWR they will check it for free at Radio Shack. A good antenna is a magnet mount, you can put it on your trunk or cab, as long as nothing is blocking it. Have any more problems, let me know. Thanks for choosing FixYa....John

No good receive on cobra 142 gtl base

What is the swr? This can impact the receiver. However, the tuning coils for receive and transmit are close to each other and someone most likely turned the receive coil instead of the transmit coil. The coils that are adjustable that affect receive are 13, 15 and 3. 3 is the coil that is close to the transmit section. You may want to have it realigned.

PPR RBT1

All radio's are factory set up and although you can tweak parts, this is usually at the expense of longevity or reliability.
To tweak a radio properly and ensure it remains legal, you will need the service manual, an accurate frequency counter and standard, a nice dummy load and an oscilloscope. If you turn anything inside and do not know what you are doing, you could end up stressing output components due to signal mismatching and possibly end up with spurious transmissions which can interfere with other electronic equipment.

Ranger PPR-RBT1

Tommy, I know why you like the radio, but I must warn you that it isn't type accepted for the amateur band. (it would be the same thing as using an amateur radio for the fire department or sheriff for emergency uses.) I have looked for the mods to change it into a 10-meter radio, and they are not to be found. My suggestion to you is to look in a recent issue of QST about building a Bluetooth (c) transceiver for your regular 10-meter radio. I had to do the same thing for my HF rig which happens to be a Yaesu FT-857D. Fire me an e-mail if you want the schematics for the box. 73 and good luck!

Where can i get the ranger professional bluetooth ppr -rbt1 repair?

if its still under warrentee then send it back to where it was made. If not send it to a place like Bells cb in Fl. or another reputable shop. Inquire with them before you send it to them and they will tell you how to send it.

No signal at night

What you are hearing during the day must be what is called "skip". Skip is active during the day where you will hear radio operators from hundreds of miles away. Their signal is bouncing off an atmospheric layer well aboe the earth's surface. At night this atmospheric layer degrades and then so does the skip. Unless there is someone close to your vicinity transmitting on the channel you are listening too, you will not hear much at all. Try changing the channels until you pick up a conversation.

Radio cuts out occassionally...no transmit,no receive.if i tap bottom of it,it comes back for awhile.it's a cobra 29 ltd classic, has bigger finals and connex board installed.

Hi, my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. Take the cover off circuit board side, and with the eraser end of a pencil, touch around on the board trying to locate cold solder joints, have to look real closely and re-solder them....Thanks for choosing FixYa...John

Have Cobra 29 LTD CB Radio w/ bluetooth. Power comes on. Does not receive or transmit. What's wrong?

Sounds like the PLL circuit....... no channel synthesizer will kill the transmit and receive...... bad crystal or IC could be at fault or if someone has attempted to add more channels could also be cause.

Not real sure

Make sure that the mike gain & RF gain controls are turned clockwise & the squelch is counter-clockwise.
