Wpa # for wrt54g router

Login to your router by accessing its setup page from a browser. Enter 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in the address bar (or whatever address you may have changed it to) and provide the username and password at the prompt (the default is a blank username field and "admin" (no quotes) in the password field).

Switch to the Wireless > Security Settings page and read / change the WPA key. You can read more about wireless security on your WRT54G, here.

I hope this helps and good luck! Please rate my reply - thank you.

Our linksys wireless g router just stopped working.

In order to try to recover your router, the first thing to do is to try to reset the router to factory defaults. To do this: 1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall. 2) Disconnect all wires from the router. 3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes). 4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes). 5) Power down the router. 6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port). 7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes). 8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off). 9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router. 10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, then in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser. If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk, and see if you can get your router set up and working. When you get to the password prompt in setup, be sure to leave the user name blank. If this does not fix your problem, then report back with your results, including any error messages, and the firmware version number if you have it. Also report back the status of your router lights.

How do you set it to mtu auto

1. access the router configuration page by typing http://192.168.1.1 in your browser. 2. This should pop up a log in window asking for user name & password 3. The default settings for a linksys router say to leave the username blank and type admin for the password. 4. This should bring you to the router configuration screen, and it should open to the Setup tab. if not just click on the word Setup then Basic Setup below. 5. MTU should be right below the Domain Name box the default setting is Auto. 6. If it was changed then click on the dropdown arrow next to the box and select Auto.
Good Luck

I can no longer connect to my linksys profile. I use the WRT54G router. I reset the router password but when I try to log on to the profile it asks me setup questions and even when I put in my password it...

To reset your router, use the following steps:
  1. Press the reset button for 30 seconds.
  2. The settings should now be returned to the factory default settings, meaning any changes you had made would be deleted.
  3. Open up your Web browser and enter “192.168.1.1′ in the address bar.
  4. For the login, leave a blank ID and enter “admin” as the password.
The router has now been reset. Follow the steps in Securing Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Router to secure your router.
Through the Web Administration Pages The second method involves logging into the Web administration pages of the router. Use the following steps to reset the router using this method:
  1. Open your Web browser and enter the IP address of your router. By default, the address is “192.168.1.1′.
  2. Enter your user ID And password when prompted. Hopefully this has been changed, but if it hasn’t, the default is no ID and “admin” as the password.
  3. At the top of the Web page, click “Administration” and then “Factory Defaults”.
  4. Beside “Restore Factory Defaults”, click “Yes”.
  5. Now click the “Save Settings” button at the bottom of the Web page.
Your WRT54G wireless router should now be reset to the factory defaults

Cannot connect to our Wireless with our new Acer mini laptop

The WEP code is the security code required for a wireless computer to connect to the router. The code is contained in the router, which has a Web-based setup page. To access the page, open Internet Explorer and type in "192.168.1.1" for the URL. You do not need "HTTP" or "WWW", etc. Just the numbers and periods. This should bring up the sign-on screen for the router. The default values are the User name is left blank and the Password is "Admin". If the default values have been changed and you do not know them, the router will have to be reset to default values. If it works, this will bring up the setup page. At the setup page select the "Wireless" tab and then the "Wireless Security" tab. you should then be able to see your WEP code on the "Key 1" line. There is more information at the Ask Linksys web site: http://www3.nohold.net/noHoldCust56/Prod_6/KnowledgePortal/KPScripts/amsviewer.asp?docid=020ec5ed895e45dbb17a52fcea33fb57_KB4002_EN_070328_v1.xml&amsstatsid=5077271

Router issues

Hi Pzarek,

The first thing that comes to mind is that your Linksys modem is using the same IP address as the router and it's causing a conflict. The quickest way to find out if there is a conflict is to get into the administration setup on the router and manually change the IP address of the router itself (currently it's most likely 192.168.1.1 - change it to 192.168.1.250). Linksys has most of its devices that provide dynamic IPs set to 192.168.1.1 by default so I would suggest that.

To log into the router (assuming you have your computer plugged into the router):

Bring up Internet Explorer and type in 192.168.1.1 into the address bar.

When it asks for a username/password, type in 'admin' for the username and 'admin' for the password (without the quotes).

You can change the IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.250 on the first page that comes up.

If you're unable to access the setup, make sure the router is powered up and hold in the Reset button on the back for 30 full seconds. At that point the information provided will allow you to access it.
