I have a DI-624 D-Link Wireless Router and I need to know how to connect it to my Vonage Model VDV21-VD Cable Modem. I need this information so that I can link my computer (transmit) to my son's computer. Please forward any advise and information to [email protected]. Thanks, --Abel

I fixed the problem myself by getting a D-Link DI-624 manual and following the guide lines regarding the connections. All I needed to do was to disconnect the internet connection from the Vonage modem coming from the computer and connecting it to the D-Link Router and then making a new connection (using a new wire) from the Vonage Modem to one of the D-Link's Local Network slots.

Vonage told me to install my D-Link router between the vonage adapter and the computer and I don't know how or which wires go into which ports.

First of all: it would be good to know which vonage device you are using. This would help to be more specific.

But anyways:
  1. Connect a normal Ethernet cable form your DSL or Cable modem to the Internet (or WAN) port of your vonage router.
  2. Then connect another Ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports of the vonage device to the Internet (or WAN) port of you D-Link (The one that is separated from the 4 LAN ports.)
  3. Make sure that the D-Link is set to DHCP (Dynamic IP Address), so it can get it's IP address from the vonage router. (Look at page 14 of your manual. If you don't have one, you can get it here.)
  4. Connect your computer to one of the LAN ports on the D-Link.
If you have any more questions or this desciption is not clear to you, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Having difficulty installing DL 624 with vonage

On my Vonage setup, I had to hook the Vonage unit's blue port to the Cable modem, then connect the router to the Vonage's yellow port.
For some reason, the router would not assign an IP to the router the other way.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

D-Link connect to comcast

connect the the ethernet cable to the WAN port of the modem.

the connection should be:
One end of the cable is connected to the modem and the other should be connected at the WAN port of the modem.

Now use another Ethernet cable plug it in on the LAN port1 and the other end to your computer.

Access the configuration page of your router and set the wireless setting inside your DI-624 router.

Can I piggyback a wireless router onto a hard-wired router?

Yes, you can connect the DI-624 to your exitsing EBR-2310, you just need to connect the a cable from port 4 of the EBR-2310 to the internet/wan port of the DI-624, then after that you can already use now the wireless to your laptop and also the wired router to your desktops.
But I may suggest you to just replace the EBR-2310 with the DI-624 so you will only be using 1 router that can cater your laptop and also your desktop, Just connect the cable from your modem that is conencted now to your EBR-2310 to the internet/wan port of the DI-624 then run the setup CD that should be it.

Hope that helps...........

D-link DI-624 wireless router connectivity problems (DNS suffix)

Might I suggest that you reset the router to its default configuration by pressing and holding the reset button until it reboots. This way you will be dealing with the default configuration. Then try to use it. Remember the default login ID is admin and the password is Password or admin. Lets hope this helps
