The Message Waiting Indicator lamp on the Mitel SS4025 is set and cleared by the main system controller (back room equipment) and is further dependent on the integration between the system controller and the voice mail server. Depending on the type (age) of Mitel main control, the voice mail could be built-in to the Mitel system itself or a separate stand alone server, such as an Octel (Avaya) system. In any event this problem needs to be reported to your phone system maintenance person. Any competent Mitel System tech should be able to resolve the problem for you quickly.
My first guess is this button may be programmed as a message waiting indicator light for ext 1499. Go to the physical desk location of ext 1499 and see if the message light is on. Clear the message waiting and the companion appearance of this line on your phone should clear. Hope this helps.
it's because the operator set a message to your phone. You need to leave the handset on the cradle and push the message button. Read the display and follow the prompts. You should be able to clear the message.
What sort of messages? I think you are referencing Status messages. If so, you are also referring to either SX2000 or 3300ICP. The Status Messages are defined in the system programming by your system administrator or vendor.
the Superset 4025 is a digital set that is intended to work with a Mitel telephone system. The port must be programmed and connected to a jack to allow the phone to work. The phone is not intended to be used as a home telephone.
In the days before voicemail, Mitel had a "Call Me Back" feature that would light the MWI. We now use the MWI for voicemail, but the capability is still there. You can solve it several ways.
1. Go to the blinking phone and press the Messages button. One of those should be "Call me back". Press it and when the other party picks up, the MWI should turn off.

2. Look up the FAC for Message Waiting - Deactivate in your phone switch. On my switch it is *91.
1) The phone cannot communicate with the switch.
2) Make sure your connections are good at both the jack that you plug the phone into and the block or connection coming from the Mitel switch.
