This is a ten meter radio easily converted to the cb band.
The reason for such conversions is to have a hopped up hybrid cb/ten meter radio,
Usually exceeding the 4 watt limit on cb radios imposed by the FCC. A
conversion will also open up many more frequencies to the radio. This is
not illegal to own or listen to, but is illegal to transmit on the cb
band and anywhere else without proper licensure, which is as easy to
obtain as sending away for an
electronics degree on a matchbook.
The
Galaxy 88 is not a bad radio for use on cb and they are well known for their loudness on AM, something that is coveted a great deal in cb land.
I would estimate in good working condition - you
could get $200 for it.
Of course the market dictates the price.
