To the right of the zoom control
is the Jog Dial, a wheel control that can
be pressed in like a mouse button. The Jog Dial serves to
modify certain shooting parameters directly on the screen
or EVF:
Exposure Compensation: ± 2 EV
in 0.3 EV increments.
Flash Exposure Compensation (when the
flash is enabled): ±1 EV in 0.3 EV increments.
ISO Sensitivity: 64, 100, 200, 400, 800,
1600 ISO, or Auto ISO.
Manual mode gives access to everything the camera provides and most options are available from the menu button. The ISO, Shutter speed and Aperture are accessed by scrolling the wheel on the back of the camera. To manipulate those options the wheel has to be depressed.

Unfortunately, there are no repair manuals for Kodak Z612 and/or Z712 digital cameras .If you want to fix / replace the LCD screen here's a helpful Video Tutorial on how to replace the screen.
I would try spinning the selector knob back and forth a few times to see if it cleans up the contacts otherwise i think you will be sending it in for service. I love my 712is. But check on repair costs,, might get the 812 or 1015 cheaper and they use your battery's and cards.
It is not possible to buy a viewing screen for KODAK cameras.
An Out of Warranty repair for this model for this fault is about 88 pounds + shipping. KODAK also offers a Trade up option where you will have the opportunity to trade up to a newer model 25-30% cheaper than the market price.
In order to arrange your repair/Trade up: Contact KODAK:

Most re-chargeable batteries are 1.2V each, totalling 2.4V. The Z712IS Camera is designed for 3V operation. Therefore using 2 re-chargeable bats is not enough, UNLESS they are 3 or 3.7V.
