Try this with battery removed first..

plug in ac power, no battery,

then when turning on machine, press F8 to go to safe mode(pick the top option)

see how that works forya

sure...i'd suggest you check it's warranty status, and then arrange for a service call, with either an lcd replacement or motherboard swap..

I had that problem not half an hour ago. I resolved it by swapping my 2 ram chips around and it seems to ok thus far. It's worth noting I installed another 512mb a week or so ago. It has run beautifully till this afternoon. I tried using ac and battery, ac and no battery and battery only. With no result.

Dell inspiron 6400 errors 0244 and 1A44

Sounds like a bad drive but it may still have the data on it (hand it over to a professional).
Next time, don't forget to do your backups so you don't have to worry.

Dell inspiron 6400 screen won't go 'full screen' on pinball (running XP Pro)

Hi Dominic
You need to buy a new computer, a Mac ideally.
A possible work-around for the 'not going full screen' problem would be to sit much closer to the screen, making the images appear larger.
If you could get hold of a magnifying glass from ebay this may help too.

Screen wont turn on , i have a inspiron 6400 .. I rang dell & my extra 3yr warranty ran out just 6 weeks ago & * They WONT HELP*

when you say screen will not turn on it means we do not have display right? now, try this. turn off laptop, press and hold D key then press power button, check if the LCD will display colors if yes then it might be your video card causes the problem which needs motherboard replacement. if no colors appear then LCD needs replacement.

Dell Inspiron 6400 doesn't boot up properly, and won't turn off.

Try holding down Cntrl-Alt-Delete If that dosen't do it, and it's locked up, you should be able to pull the battery with minimal if any risk Profile settings must be set in administrator mode. Try booting in safe mode
