When I try turning on the TV the power/standby light flashes green until I turn the TV off, no picture appears.

Your main board died.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

set should have come with a one year warranty.

Try tv unplug,replug about an hour later.The tv now,resetting to factory setting.The tv now,should work.Not than,the power supply board is dead.That the board,where the power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

First area to check out is the power supply of the set.

This could be a variant of, or a newer (or older) version of the "DMD fan failure" message.

Symptoms I had are, I stop hearing a fan when the message is displayed.
Then the temp LED keeps flashing RED until I either try to turn the TV on again,
Or turn MAIN power off/on again. BUT it repeats when I try to turn the TV on.
The picture appears normal until this happens ( about 15 sec.)

The solution is to FORCE a normal shutdown by hitting the TV off button
before the message appears.
You should see the power LED flashing RED/GREEN (cool down) and then RED (standby).

this problem is in the power supply.the red lights indicate as the standby mode.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

I have a sony tv PFM-42B1 when I turn it on it go to standby an a red light flash I count count 14 time but I heard that it only support to flash 1 to 6 time how do count the flash

Bad IHVT ( aka flyback transfomer) replace with 257805 ? or
