Hi.
If the flicker is given by backlight, then the problem is either inverter board or power adapter. In some case a defective PC board may also be responsible. A defective inverter is the part that gives this problem more commonly.
Parts for most models can be purchased online entering model number in one of the websites below:

Here a summary description showing how to test inverter and PSU.
Parts must be tested before replacement. The job must be done by a trained technician.

Hi.
The only flickering that you can fix by yourself (at user level), are those that are not caused by internal parts failure.
Before calling repair, ensure that flicker is not given by any of the following:
All the problems listed above can be tested by the user. The fact that : "The problem has clear up after half an hour for the last week but now is constantly flickering and flashing", points more to an internal fault. When an internal component starts failing, circuit becomes inefficient, and problems may occurr more often with time, until the TV stops starting.Interference from nearby electrical devices or wireless devices (eg mobiles or router).
Bad ground in wallsocket (test on different socket, eventually using extension-if you used extension, test without extension).
Problems caused by connected devices and cables(eg. receiver faulty-test using different devices and cables)
If flickering comes from backlight, then the problem is usually the inverter, sometimes the PSU, and less commonly the main board.
