Protection light When I installed my Volfenhag zx8300 for the first time it worked great. The next day I tried to use and the protection light came on. So I unhooked it and did'nt reinstall it for a month. After reinstalling it the protection light came on again once I turned it back on. Could you please give some reasons why this is happening, and what I can do to fix this problem? Thank you very much for your help in this matter.

It's likely that there are shorted output transistors in at least one channel. If you want to repair it yourself, you'd have to determine which transistors are defective and replace them. The following page will help guide you through the basic troubleshooting.

On the page (link) provided, read the section labeled:
    Transistor Failure/Checking Transistors

There's a link to a page that shows you how to check the transistors. Let me know if you need more help.

You need to check the transistors. Pull the clamps off of the transistors (after disconnecting the amp from the power source) and give me the numbers on the transistors. There will be multiple transistors with the same number. Give me the 5 or 6 numbers common to the groups of transistors. For example, you will likely have several with the number Z44. Others will likely begin with an A or a C.

Can you send me a photo of the inside of the amp?

I didn't receive them. If they were larger than 10 megs, they probably won't make it through.

The red protect light comes on, i dont know how to make it go green so it will work. please help!!

Devices with several light emitting indicators would each display as observation of manufacturers installed features. Red indication is power cciuit indication, yelow as alternate warning where green is indication of regular fucntionality. Once the device is least malfunct, every light is an equal expectation. Usually with amplifeiers, the red light has to be on throughout until stereo became powered on to porduce green light effects as radio expectations.

How to switch protection off (red LED to blue)

The protection light is on indicating a short or over- voltage problem. If you disconnect the speaker leads and the light goes off or green then the problem is a shorted speaker or wiring problem. If the light stays red the problem is inside the amp and it will need service and parts.

Checek the wiring of the amp and speakers, don' forget to look for shorts at the speakers. Make sure no wires are touching each other

Need help please...

If you unplugged the fuses, the amp won't come on at all. I'd say its a blown transistor, you can test this by opening up the amp and using a multimeter to check resistance on the transistors.

Protect light

check speaker wire is not grounded and/or the proper impedence is followed. Those amplifiers are 2 ohm stereo stable. Know the difference.

Remove speaker wires and try amplifier.
Add 1 speaker at a time until the problem recreates itself, or test them with an ohm meter.

Volfenhag ZX8300 on with radio, off with cd or mp3 player

You're using the wrong control wire. You're likely using a wire marked antenna control. You need to use the one marked amp control. They are both blue.

Protection light

If the amp goes into protection with no speakers wires connected to the amp and no signal cables connected to the amp, the amp probably has shorted output transistors.

If that's the case, they would have to be replaced. Most people simply have the amp repaired by a qualified tech. If you want to try to repair it yourself, read the following page:

Amplifier Repair Primer

If the amp failed after only a short time, the speaker ohm load may have been too low. If it wasn't lower than the amp is designed to run, the amp may not be suitable for your needs.

Subs stopped working & protect light on the amp is red...

well at this point i would say it is both,, the subs fried because your amplifier passed dc [direct current] and fried the voice coils on your subs....return them if they are under warranty,, the amplifier sound like you either operated it beyound its specifications or it has a defective output stage allowing it to pass or leak dc....it turned the voice coils into the equivelent of the runners in a toaster oven....when an amp passes dc it is going to do so to whatever speakers you hook to it....so either bring it to a shop to be fixed/ return it to place purchase for exchange or throw it away.....or you will continue to experience the same problems....I am sorry..ps the amp goes into protection when it detects a short...[ the short is produced by the amp and it is detecting its own fault and putting it in to protection after it BURNS up your drivers....
