How to reset yamaha HTR-5650 AV receiver (maybe others) to factory default settings:
1. turn power off. 2. press the 6ch input and stereo button simultaneously for 4 seconds. Then while holding down these 2 buttons, turn the power on. 3. press preset tuning to the right until option #9 is selected. 4. Then, press program button until the *RV option is selected. 5. turn power off, wait 10 seconds. 6. turn power on, settings are reset.
This would most likely be a failure of the center channel ort speaker. Did you set up your speaker complement according to the manual including the test tones and volume adjustments?
1 Hold down STEREO on the Front Panel
"Factory Preset" appears on the front panel
2 Press STEREO to select the desired setting.
'Reset' To reset to factory presets
'Cancel' to cancel without making changes
3 Press STANDBY/ON to confirm your selection
You may need to enable the fixed audio output line level from the TV. Some TV`s require you to enter the AUDIO menu/setup selection on the TV remote controller, and then enable the AUDIO OUTPUT Jacks, this will turn off the TV built in speakers and engage the audio RCA Jacks.
I have the same issue if I connect my digial audio cable from the Yamaha receiver directly to the HDTV. But, I get all 6 speakers working when I connect the Yamaha receiver directly to the Comcast HD box (instead of TV).
Did you try going thru the setup portion of the owners manual? IF you need the manual you can get it online free. I realize sometimes people read the manuals and don't understand the technical jargon. Select different modes on the remote or front panel and make sure all speaker that you have hooked up are showing on display. Are the Lt & Rt channels at least playing audio?
