Interesting question. You made me go look it up. I am surprised to say that is does NOT have 1394 capability on the MB. It have many USB connectors. It seems that since Firewire never really caught on, the mainboard mfgrs have decided to eliminate the 1394 connectors to make space for USB3 connectors,
It does sound like the motherboard failing as you have tried everything possible. Could be the bios chip corrupted. As to a replacement, Ebay is your best bet, as there do not be any suppliers offering this older board now
That beep you are referring to is the BIOS. Here are a couple of steps you can take to try and resolve this issue.
First, try removing the battery on your motherboard. This is a small round silver piece stuck on the motherboard inside the computer. In other words, you are resetting the CMOS:

the asus p5q-e motherboard doesn't come with a video card. teh e-SATA-1394 is the serial hard drive connection.
you need to get a ATI video card, since th edriver is ATI, it is much easier tooc onfigure than any other video car.
make sure to get the DVI-D video card.
you could try to reseat the card. sometimes the cards don't fit quite right and when you plug in the cable maybe it moves it enough to get a bad connection.
does it post with just the cable pluged in pluged out?
did that help:)
