My HP Pavilion dv4-1124nr will not turn on. OY. I was looking at my email and everything locked up, so i shut it down. And now to my despare it will not turn on.

When does it shut down? Does it boot up and allow you to do anything? If it allows you to do some things then maybe it is running hot and shuts down or a virus is shutting it down. Give us more details on when it shuts down and what was going on when it shut down.
Motherboard is defective & needs to be replaced with a new one. You can find a replacement motherboard by searching on e-bay.com with the motherboard's model number. This could be found under the RAM.
look up what you have in the startup files, alot of stuf you download puts thier product in the startup and it will take longer for your pc to turn them on and off:
Goto start menu and type in:
MSCONFIG
goto start up and turn off anything that you do not need to run at start up....becareful that you do not turn off key components to your system...just look for software you have downloaded...this will help speed up your start up and shutdown....
Power drain would be a better solution in this case. 1.first shut down the comp 2.unplug the charger 3. remove the battery and after press and hold the power button for 60 seconds without any charger and the battery.After the 60 seconds replug the battery and the charger and turn the computer
► do a power drain i.e unplug the power cable and press the power button and hold it down for 10 secs.
► reseat the hard drive by unplugging the cable connecting the hard drive and motherboard and also the power cable

turn on machine and hit F8 to into safe mode. If cannot load to safe mode i suspected your Operating system is corrupted. You might need to reformat your machine. Back up your files first before doing so because everything will be wiped out.
