If the amp is not turning on at all (red light near the power switch is dark), the fix may be as simple as a blown fuse. With the amp unplugged, remove the head from the case. you'll see three fuses, two on the circuit board, and another connected to the wire coming through the bottom of the case from the power supply underneath. If the power supply fuse is blown, replace it with a 250v 5a fuse (there should be a label in the case with the fuse specs - double check it). I own two '83 Renown 212s and both had this issue. Yes, 160w output...and loud as hell.
You'll need to have the amp in for some troubleshooting. It's not easy to say what the problem is and it could be a number of things. Also, that 450 watts is the power the amp uses, not how much audio power it puts out. The Renown was originally made in a 160 watt format and on the back of it, it says "450 watts" on the left side of the back, but that is the power it uses... This is why I say you should take the amp to a shop...
