I have a Peavey Renown Solo Series guitar amp. It's 450 Watts. It's a great sounding amp. My problem is that now when I turn it on, the light comes on but there is no sound. This used to happen a few times in the past but what used to work was whenever I would turn up the volume up pretty loud, THEN the amp would come blasting on. So I would turn the volume down to wherever I wanted it and it would be fine. This was very rare whenever this happened since 95% of the time whenever I turned on the amp, it came on fine. Now no matter how loud I turn up the volume, it doesn't come on. I need help right away! Can anyone there help me?!

If the amp is not turning on at all (red light near the power switch is dark), the fix may be as simple as a blown fuse. With the amp unplugged, remove the head from the case. you'll see three fuses, two on the circuit board, and another connected to the wire coming through the bottom of the case from the power supply underneath. If the power supply fuse is blown, replace it with a 250v 5a fuse (there should be a label in the case with the fuse specs - double check it). I own two '83 Renown 212s and both had this issue. Yes, 160w output...and loud as hell.

You'll need to have the amp in for some troubleshooting. It's not easy to say what the problem is and it could be a number of things. Also, that 450 watts is the power the amp uses, not how much audio power it puts out. The Renown was originally made in a 160 watt format and on the back of it, it says "450 watts" on the left side of the back, but that is the power it uses... This is why I say you should take the amp to a shop...

Please explain how it is wired and then we can go from there. It could be RCA issues, Radio Potentiometer, even the speakers.

I bought a peavey bandit 65 it's getting power but is barely making a sound?

There are a lot of possible problem areas it could be. I would first check that the speaker is working correctly. If so, I'd clean all jacks and pots. If that doesn't do it, it'll be time to take it to the shop.

Peavey solo series SPECIAL 112 ; Loud him , intermittently

Most of the time amplifier hum is caused by the outlet that it's plugged into, maybe no ground or there's other appliances on the same circuit causing interference? And sometimes it's as simple as a little internal feedback, certain C notes on the Guitar cause distortion with tube amps, the best fix is a $100 power conditioner like made by Monster cables or others.... hope this helps?

My peavey 5150 guitar amplifier turns on but does not put out sound. The light above the standby switch does not come on. I changed the fuse after it immediately powered off the first time. Now its just no...

Hi!
Unfortunatly, it's time to take it to the shop. Check the Peavey website for an authorized repair center in your area. An authorized repair shop will have better access to the parts and tech help from Peavey service.
No sense digging into the amp and getting a bad shock!
Good luck!

Peavey renown 212

If no fuses blown you probably have an issue on your +15V and -15V power supply regulators, this can be tested by checking opamps supply voltage which should be +15V at pin-8 and -15V at pin-4, let me know further.

I have a peavey Renown 400 model 212 without speakers. What speakers should I install to replace the missing ones?

THe speakers should be a good quality and rated jointly at 1.5 times the power of the amp.
