Help! My camera is doing the same thing other's do too. I turn it on and it says "Turn power off and on again" and the lens comes out and goes back in halfway. sometimes I hold down the play button for about 5 secodns and then press it again and it allows me to take (bad) pictures. When i say bad pictures I mean the screen starts shaking and gets static or something and then when i finally can take a picture they exposure comes out so bright that the picture is just a all white or it comes out too dark. This happens no matter what setting i'm on. I have sent it into Precision camera to be fixed twice and it comes back and works for the first day and then breaks down again. I'm highly considering that the the higher the price the better the quality is not true anymore.

Hi try turning on and taking hold of the end of the lense and gently pulling and twisting you may hear a click but dont force it. then turn off and on again. then you may want to try

Press Menu button
togle across from REC Mode to setup
togle down thrice from camera to setup 1
togle across into sub menu
togle down from four times to Initialize
togle across again to the sub-menu
togle up from cancel to OK
press center button to accept the OK choice
Screen changes and so press okay again
It should restart the camera
Opening on the 'Clock Set' screen
togle down to cancel and use the camera and make sure that you have the camera to flash, if it works try again in the Auto function.
If it is still not working do not worry follow the steps again two or three more times, As this is generally a software error message and not a hardware malfunction.
If it is working then don't forget to set your Clock.

Panasonic DMC-ZS6 when in camera mode lens comes out and I get the message "Please turn camera off and then on again" when I turn off the lens just stays out.

There is an issue with the camera focus circuit in lens. That is why it is ok when you go into playback mode but negative when the lens is involved.

When I turn it on the lens goes in and out three times and then says turn the power off and on again and it does the same thing

Hi,

Error: TURN THE POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN is displayed on the LCD screen when the Lens Mechanism is stuck or when affected by any malfunction. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the error message, try doing a power reset and Initialize option.

Performing a manual power reset

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.

To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the SET UP1 Menu of the Camera to OK.This will set the user defined settings back to factory default. The images and videos will not get deleted.

If the issue persists, service may be required.

note; whatever you do, do not force the lens back in or pull it out. the alignment is off due to perhaps one of the barrels, or sliders, or even the internal rings around the lens. if anything "fell out" of the lens while you were tapping it around, be sure to send it in carefully wrapped for the repair.

When i turn on my camera it says Turn the power off and on again

Hey, my camera the dsc- w80 did the same thing. When I turned it on, the lens opened 3-4 times and then it said "turn the power off and on again".
When the lens opened an closed, I pulled on it with my fingers and twisted it. I kept doing that: Turned the camera on and off, kept pulling and twisting the lens and now my camera works again!

Problem with lens

If you have 'Grabbed them and jiggled them around' Then I am certain the camera is wrecked and beyond repair. Very fine parts here and not intended for that type of treatment. Almost certainly a no repair job because there will be no parts available. Though you could try a repair shop. Time for another one then and this time treat with a modicom of respect.
