If you have a plug and play OS it should have detected the web cam then asked for drivers. try connecting the cam to other PC and lap top they detect the cam it may be a hardware problem if not the web cam maybe defective.
If you were to log on to the hp.com web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as
usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer
Instruction Manuals, list
of Dealers,
for spare parts and service, Driver
downloads
and
Installation Instructions
as required.
This is the best way of ensuring up to
date drivers for your system and they are free of charge!
If drivers for the web cam are not shown. they are possibly not available and an external web cam may be needed or a return to your original OS will be needed.

The webcam is ok if i connect to other laptop or PC. Only at my laptop if i try to connect it did not take any action. There is a sound. (plug in sound) but nothing appeared. Do i need to install any software for that. My main purpose using the webcam is for Skype calls.
I did try connect at other PC n laptop. Its ok. When i try to connect at my laptop no action was taken except there is a sound (plug in sound). Was it because of i don't have the software for the webcam? I need to use the webcam for Skype call. Pls help.
