The GXL2200, and GXL2400, and GXL1200 all require 48 volt phantom power. Your computer does not supply this voltage for the microphone. Therefore, you need something like the Blue Icicicle USB converter ( http://www.guitarcenter.com/Blue/Icicle-XLR-to-USB-Mic-Converter-Mic-Preamp-1275860129018.gc ) or some other flavor of Phantom Power Inserter ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/242696-REG/Audix_APS_911_APS911_Phantom_Power_Supply.html ) to supply the 48 volts the mic requires.
You'll need a phantom power source, like an interface or mixer. Otherwise, the mic is likely in need of repair.
