Right click on the speaker icon and make sure external mic is set up. One time I had to use my internal mic to record stuff it was a pain.

Go to control panel > Hardware & Sound > Sound > Recording.
If you can see your microphone in the list Right-Click and select "Make default device"
Once you've done this Type "Sound recorder" and see if you can record your voice using it now. If you can and the Mic still doesn't work with skype, it is a skype issue; so have a look through there.
Control Panel, Sounds, look at Recording devices (depends on the OS you are using, you didn't mention, Vista, XP, 7,8?), Mic. Your Headphones jack, when in use, will cause the internal sound to disable, depending on OS the mic setup is a bit different but you should find it in sounds, recording devices.
This sounds like you have a voice morphing program installed. A morph program is useful for distorting your voice and special effects, but it also takes over your mic controls. Go to the control panel and choose sounds and audio devices, then look for the default device under sound recording and make sure your record device is the same model as your sound device and that it says INPUT. Another problem occurs if you right click your little sound/audio icon on the taskbar and choose open volume control then left click. Do that now and choose, options, then properties. Now on mixer device, choose one that says input. The white window on the bottom of that panel will show you several devices, check mark them all and click ok. Now manually select MIC as your default sound input device and close then try again.
What happens if you try your X1 on a PC instead of on your Xbox? That's a good test of the mic... Here's how:
- Plug the X1 USB into a USB port on your PC.
- Plug the X1 green plug into the green Line Out jack on your PC.
- Plug the X1 pink plug into the pink Microphone jack on your PC.
Try recording the sound of your own voice on the PC, using Sound Recorder or whatever. Do you hear the sound of your voice? If so, your mic is working and the X1 chat/controller cable is probably broken. Replace the chat/controller cable.
If not, then the X1 mic is broken and you should contact Turtle Beach for service at [email protected].
u need to check u r sound setting .plz click on sound icon in taskbar then click on sound property and recording there u can check u r mic if mic not working so srry dude u need to buy a new mic kkkkkkk
Go to control panel and sound devices and unmute the mic under record options. To avoid feed back use headphones or mute the mic in the play back option. Audacity is a good open source application to use to record on your PC.
make sure the mic jack is not in the speaker jack please try swap it. if it does not work, plug the mic and go to control panel select sound devices there u can set ur mic, if not reinstall ur sound driver, thanks, dont forget to vote me if it works
First go to start menu, control panel, sound and audio devices, click the voice tab, and make sure the voice recording has something listed. If not see if you can change it to your MIC. If you get no options in this box you probably don't have the mic installed correctly. If everything appears to be ok in this go to your volume controls, click options, click properties, and make sure you have mic selected in playback sections and check the boxes in recording settings then click ok, one you do this make sure alll volumes are unmuted and turned up.
