I have had the mini DV camera below for some 5 years now and has given good trouble free service. When I switch on the camera and view the LCD screen I get small red flashing letters "DEW" on the screen and a few seconds later the camera switches off. I had been successfully taking video recordings the day before and this "DEW" was obviously not there. Have I touched something inadvertanly or is it a technical issue? Also can I get a "copy" of the user manual for this camera. I have misplaced the one I got with the camera. ?

DEW means it's got damp inside the camera body and it must dry out. A warm setting on a hair-dryer (NOT TO HOT) should do or just leave the cassette housing ejected in a warm room overnight is best this should solve the problem. .

Now prices have come down so much and quality so high you might want to get a new one.
But we all love our old cameras so if you have a heater and a fan let it dry out for a whole day. Even a D-humidifier would do the trick in 24 hours. Use a tape cleaner after that to get the heads back up to perfect taping ability.

Hi, i have a sony z1...

Hi,
I assume that you can see live view to record on mini dv cassette but can't see recorded image in playback.

Let me know when you playback mini dv cassette, does time counter run time intervals or stays blank on LCD / eye finder?

If this happens, you have dirty / clogged video heads in camera and need to use good quality mini dv head cleaning cassette to clean heads. This will resolve problem.

Need further help, let me know please.
Thank you.

LCD Monitor does not work

could be the flex cable as I've replaced many of flexes in my time. Have you dropped or had a heavy impact?? Unless you know how to take apart the unit I wouldnt recomend it unless you follow the disassembly in the service manual. good luck
