Hey Papa53, Often with digital camera repairs the cost of the repair exceeds the value of the camera, but it is at least worth getting looked at and having an estimate done on the repair. You could go to a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy™ store and they can send it out to get an estimate done on the repair. Sincerely, Allan Go Ahead. Use Us.

The lcd screen is no longer working. Fortunately the eyepiece still works and U can still use the camera and compose shots. Repair is not worth the cost.
Format the memory card and then insert in the camera. After that try to take photos. If not working then camera firmware fault. Go for repairing . Repair cost not more than 30$.
This is a common problem with these camera's. This is either faulty screen or a problem with CCD sensor. In both situations, repair is never recommended as buying a new camera would be cost effective as compared to getting this camera repaired. Try to look at previously saved video's or images, if you still see horizontal lines, it would confirm faulty screen unless if the saved video's or images are fine, and this happens only when you try to click a picture, this would confirm faulty CCD sensor.
OK, the repair cost, including labour will be round about $40. It is worth it in my opinion. You will be able to get this replaced at the nearest camera repair store near you.
You have a couple choices. Replace the LCD screen with a new or used one. Replace the camera, and sell this one on a site such as Ebay for parts, as is or repair. Repairing this camera may not be worth the cost of repairs, if you do not know how to do it or have the know how.
I did some checking around for your camera.

I would buy a new camera. It would cost more to get the camera fixed than what it's worth.
