Hello,
Unfortunately notebook PCs can't be upgraded like desktop PCs can. Each model can only use that specific motherboard. The full specs for your notebook can be found here: http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Gateway/M305CRV/3501715sp58.shtml This shows that that board can use either a Celeron processor or a Pentium 4 Mobile processor, both need to be the 100mhz buss speed versions. If you have the Celeron model notebook you can gain a little speed by replacing the chip and going to the Pentium 4 chip but it still will not be up to current notebook speeds because of the 100mhz buss speed of the board. Your best bet would be sell the laptop and get a new one. You an catch one on sale at Office Depot, Staples or Best Buy for about $400. You should be able to sell your unit for $150-250 and then put what you were going to use for a motherboard and you will be about at the price of a new one.
I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.
