My console is always connected to my television. There was a brief power outage today, the televison and cable returned but the power LED red standby mode did not come on. I unplugged everything for 2 minutes nothing happened.

The Media Receiver is the tuner/connector selector box.
If the top is removed the Media Box goes into shut down mode. It requires resetting by a Pioneer Authorised Service tool.

Capacitor issues in or around your power supply area.....they have been systemically linked to many Korean/Japanese brands manufactured like LG. Quality repair shop will get you up and going in a day or two depending on their queue....
It occurs when your wii in the Standby, but WiiConnect24 is enabled with Standby Connection is enabled. the content
can also be received when the Wii is left in standby mode.
WiiConnect24 can be turned on or off via the setup setting. While the console is in standby, the power LED indicates the current
status of the standby connection,
Red indicating Standby - wiiConnect is
off,
Yellow indicating Standby - Connect mode is on. If you hold the power button for 3-4 seconds, the
Wii goes into standby mode with Standby Connect off. and WiiConnect24 will not operate until
the console is turned on.
This TV might have been affected by the power outage even if it was not ON at that moment. There is a standby voltage still present even when OFF and connected to the AC line.
There might be different failures on this TV:
1. The power supply might be defective after the power outage.
2. The main board could also be defective since the power supplies for today's TVs are not well regulated and once the voltage getting to the power supply increases, the standby voltage voltage will also increase damaging voltage sensitive components like the microprocessor or memory circuitry.
When this same thing happened to me, I unplugged the Wii power supply from the wall (not just from the back of the Wii) and let it sit unplugged for about 10 minutes. When I plugged it back in, everything was fine.
