TS-H492A doesnot accept even CD's - Samsung TS-H492A/RSWN CD-RW/DVD-ROM (Combo) Burner

If you are runny windows 7, this will most likely not work due to compatibility issues. If you are running XP this problem will not occur. The only solution to use this drive would be downgrade to a different operating system or a different computer. If this is not an option. Get a new drive.

Please go here and download the live update from Samsung. This software is designed to automatically update you to the latest firmware via the internet. To get this service, customers have to install the Firmware LiveUpdate program on their computers.

Please download the live update full version if you have not used this software before. See link.

Simply follow the instructions as given and your software will be updated to the latest version required to run your CD/DVD writer with your computer.

This could be due to various reasons. First check whether the inserted dvd-r is working with any other system? if yes, Clean the drive lens using lens cleaner CD/DVD. Still you are facing the problem, then there could be a problem with the lens allignment and need to repair the same with the help of local expert engineers or nearest service center experts or buy a new Drive if repairing cost is more than the new one.

your TS-H492A/RSWN can write dvd at a speed of 52x and write to cd with a speed of 32x. for you to be able to write to a dvd you will need a dvd writer software

could be your player is very choosy with the kind of brand you are using. try using other dvd recordable disk brand. to burn a dvd you will be needing a special writing software for dvd. you cannot use a dvd if you just want to burn a cd. you should only use a recordable cd.
