I've been given a DVD-RW by a friend to replace a faulty one.
I can put a DVD in the drive but Windows XP doesn't see it.
I presume the jumpers on the back aren't set right.
My HD is set to cable select. How do I set the jumpers for the DVD drive?

Hai
if u have two seperate data cable to hard disk and dvd rw,there is no big changes to made in jumpers, but u have only one data cable u should select jumper as a master to hard disk and slave to dvd rw,
basic identification to master jumper is that ,it place is close to data cables ,and slave is next pin,in typical models
also u se the detail in hdd and dvd rw's jumper locations
thanks

Hi. I discovered the meaning off the jumpers (on top of the drive).
The HDD was set to Cable Select and the DVD driv to Slave.
I changed the jumpers to Cable select and the BIOsnow recognised the drive.
Thanks
When I put a cd in the drive you can here it turn on but the computer won't recognize it. I went to the device manager and it does not show the cd dvd drive is even there.
