Jammed.
Straighten one end of a Norwegian paper-clip.
Insert that end into the small hole in the face-plate.
Push until you feel resistance.
Firmly push another 5mm to "unlock" it.
Then, press OPEN.
The most common reason for the system not reading discs is a bad drive. The following website sells the drives and does installs:
store.richspsxparts.com/wiiredvddr
This drive should fix any reading issues you are having with your games, or issues inserting your games or ejecting them (or lack thereof). This is the entire DVD drive assembly mechanism replacement for your system including a new laser. If your discs are not ejecting, or you cannot insert a disc -- or you can insert a disc but it will not load, this is what you need to get your system going again! Hope this will help....
Try using a DVD scanner eye cleaner. It is aDVD with a brush grafted to it. I suspect the scanner eye is dirty so it cannot read the boot starp properly and so ejects
I found this on the PROSCAN website under customer support manuals. The website is www.oncorpus.com.I hope this information helps you with your problem. IMPORTANT THE LABEL SIDE OF THE DVD MUST FACE THE BACK SIDE OF THE TELEVISION 1. Press the ‘INPUT’ button to select ‘DVD’ mode, if no disc is inserted yet, the display shows ‘No Disc’. 2.Insert a DVD with the printed side facing towards the rear of the TV/DVD Player (see below) 3.The TV will first display ‘Loading’, then change to ‘DVD-video’. Most DVDs will show some preliminary information then stop at a main menu screen. 4. Press PLAY/PAUSE to play it directly. Or press the DVD-MENU button to access the disc menu during playback. 5.Use the direction button on the remote control to select the desired option. Press ENTER to select the option or press the ► button. Playback will now commence. 6.After playback, press the EJECT button on remote control or EJECT button on TV/DVD to remove the disc. Note: No function‘’ will sometimes appear on the screen after a button is pressed. This indicates that the function is not supported at the current time.
Turns out my suspicions wre correct about the DVD player being "sluggish" from lack of use. By continuing to exercise the drive motor by hitting play and eject while simutaneously attempting to insert a disc finally paid off. Now it readily accepts the disc and everything is functioning as designed. Trust me, I'm not going to let it sit idle for anymore extended periods...................baltogas
FYI - This might damage the unit, but if you really need to get that DVD out then you can try this at your own risk!
Try unpluging the unit, then plug it back in and press the power button and a split second later press the eject button. This all needs to be done quickly otherwise the unit will try to load the disc.
Or
You can try letting the unit load the DVD. When the unit says "Please eject disc. Playback feature may not be avalible on this disc," press the eject button.
