Picture failed - how does one remove back panel to access capacitors?

Lay TV flat on face. Remove all screws around the outside edge and depending on screen size, the ones that are about 1/3 and 2/3 of the way across the back. On most TV's it is also required that you remove the pedestal base or the screws that held it in place. (if some of the screws are longer, or shorter, they must go back where they came from when you reassemble the set )
After all of the screws have been removed, it is usually easier to start to separate the front and back in the center of one of the sides.
After the back is out of your way, the capacitors that you assume are causing the trouble are on the printed circuit board that the AC line cord goes to. It sometimes has a metal shield over or around it.
The capacitors in question are beside or beneath another metal bracket. Make sure to replace them the same way that you took them out, they do have a + side and - side. Don't use the $2 capacitors or you will get to do this over again very soon.

I cannot hear any sound

Hello
First make sure that the "Mute" function is OFF. If it is set to "ON", no volume will be there.

Your TV has a volume lock function included [Global Volume Lock].

The remote comes preset to allow independent volume control of each selected device (Global

Volume Unlock). However, you may change the Volume Lock setting to Global Volume Lock so that

one device's volume will control volume in all other modes. After that, you can perform Individual

Volume Unlock on a selected device to set its volume control for independent operation or Global
Volume Unlock to remove all volume locking.
Locking Volume Control to One Mode (Global Volume Lock)
[1] Press and hold SET UP until the red LED blinks twice; then release.

[2] Enter 9-9-3 and then press the mode key for the device you want to control volume (for

example,TV). The LED blinks twice. Now when you press VOL+, VOL-, or Mute, the selected
device (for example, TV) will control the volume regardless of the current mode.
Unlocking All Volume Control (Restoring Global Unlock)
[1] Press and hold SET UP until the red LED blinks twice; then release.

[2] Enter 9-9-3 and then press VOL+. The LED blinks four times.
Volume is now independently controlled for all programmed devices.
Unlocking a Single Device's Volume Control
[1] Press a device key (TV, VCR/DVD, CBL/ SAT, or AUX).
[2] Press and hold SET UP until the red LED blinks twice; then release.

[3] Enter 9-9-3 and then press VOL-. The LED blinks four times. Volume is now
independently controlled for the selected devices.

Shuts down after 30-60 sec. after pushing power

It is best to contact any service technician in this case. Never switch ON the set, until this fault has been rectified. It might make things worse.

Need a manual

I agree with too complicated--about the only hope you have for the owner manual is to use Google and the model number with key words like manual-Polaroid is hard to contact or get anything from. This is also compounded by the fact that most combo units are not made by the company whose name is on them.

Insert the disc and nothing happens

If all discs do not play it is likely a bad optical unit in the DVD--problem is most companies only sell the DVD portion as a complete unit---kind of expensive.

I have a Polaroid TV/DVD combo. It took the DVD in, won't play it nor will it eject now. How do I get the DVD back?

Tries the tv unplug/replug the tv back for about an hour later for the tv power to reset itself.At this time u will able to eject the DVD disc out.Don't tries to used the tv intergrated DVD player anymore.The tv intergrated DVD player laser head and the spin motor for the dvd disc spinner it is defective now.Buy a portable cheap or a moderate unit of a outer DVD player and hook up to the tv AV input.Play it through the tv input video 1,2,3 u should have a DVD player capatablities again.
