Re: I have a new modem: model speedstream 5200, now I...
Your router and DSL modem probably both are set to the same IP address:
192.168.1.1
Change one of them to 192.168.1.2(I'm suggesting the Linksys)
and it should fix the problem and have them both working again.
Thanks Slicenglide. That was quick. The problem is a new modem that does not allow me to connect the router cables . Do I require an adaptor? If so any suggestions? Thanks for the help.
My new modem has fewer ports, and connects more directly to my computor, which leaves my router with two loose cables with nothing to plug into:
1. The Wan cable
2. Port 1 cable
Whatever adapters I had, I can no longer use. I need an adapter which will allow me to connect the router whitout disabling the new modem, or disrupt computor no.1's functions.
Thanks for the help.
