Fuel gauge doesnt work a person said bad fuel pump could it be just a fuse or relay fuel pump doesnt work

Does the starter spin the engine normally when you turn the key to the start position ? Do the headlamps shine bright ? If any of these work correctlly the battery is fine . If the engine turns over normally an doesn't start an run it doesn't mean the fuel pump is bad either .There could be any number of thing's wrong , testing first electrical circuits of igintion system , fuel system . Hooking up a fuel pump pressure gauge , pull a plug wire an check for spark . I'd say your best bet would be to take your to a qualified repair shop before you replace parts you don't need .

Swap the relay in the fuse panel. If it still doesn't work, Suspect the pump. But it could be a bad power or ground wire also.

check for blown fuse check for bad fuel pump relay. check for bad wires.

should be a fuse in fuse panel for all gauges, not one per gauge.. there is a fuel pump relay on most fuel injection cars but that gives fuel pump power . most of the time if fuel gauge is not working its the sending unit inside the tank ,wich if your in there might as well change fuel pump to.

the ground fell off of the fuel pump or the plug came loose. its between the tank and frame. pull the wires down until u see the connector. unplug clean and plug in. I would check the fuse and relay first. usually there is another relay that is the same as the fuel pump in fuse box. switch them and see if it works
