Distorted, scratchy sound with Toshiba Satellite

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} I have Toshiba Satellite A105 – S361, Windows XP and current McAfee. After July Windows update my sound is distorted or scratchy.
When I play a music file the sound is normal for 30 sec but then suddenly CPU usage goes up to 100%. After 5 – 6 seconds CPU usage goes down to normal.
Sound is distorted and scratchy for all sounds coming out from laptop. Even basic sound like mouse click is distorted. I did troubleshoot all systems and everything works fine.
Any help?

OK, I would restore or recover the computer to manufacturer's original specifications and automatic update to the latest sp3.

Then, I would reinstall your virus protection and see if it's better.

My laptop's (Toshiba Satellite A105-S361)desktop doesn't bring the desktop icons and the task bar after I loaded AVG 9 antivirus software. Why is that? Would you mind give me a solution, pls?

The desktop icons and the task bar would generally dissappear if you have a virus on the PC. However, sometimes improper software installations may cause undesired results like we have right now. Instead of trying uninstalling anything, try restoring the system to a previous point using system restore.
