the idler or tensioner wheel that your belt rides on has a bearing in the center of it. This bearing is going out causing the high pitched squeal your hearing
I am having a similar issue. I had a tech out to look at it and he recommended replacing the drum bearing and idler jockey pulley. ($419.95) Ouch. I am going to do this on my own. I ordered the part from paykelfisherparts.net. Part # 479332 Drum Bearing Kit $79.91.
Check here for more info. This was exactly what I found on my machine (DGGX1) http://fisherpaykelparts.net/techhelp/fisher-paykel-top-load-dryers-us-models/731-fisher-paykel-dggx1-top-load-dryer.html
I did not totally trust the repair dude. He was wierd and not very thorough. I can tell the bearing is bad, if there are still noises I will order up the jockey pully thing and see if I can figure that out.
Here is a link to the service manual. (https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B5If-wTgYWH5OGNkY2RmZDEtMWU4OS00MjgwLTg3OWEtMmRlZjY0N2I5MzYy&hl=en)
It could be bearing or guides in the drum.Go to
