In the owners information your compressor takes the 1 bottle of IR oil that comes with it. If you have a local tractor supply company or another company who carries IR you might check with them, it is the only oil i would recommend for your unit.

Oil shooting out of cap

Two probably causes are:
1. Too much oil in the crank case. Compressors don't have a lot of oil in them and the oil level must be at the full mark on the dip stick or sight glass. Over filling it will make the motor work harder and some oil will get forced out the vent cap.
2. You may have compressed air going into the crankcase causing oil to get blown out the vent cap. This occurs if compressed air is getting past the piston, either through a hole in the piston or past the rings because either the rings or cylinder are damaged.

I have an old type 30 model ingersoll rand air compressor. It has not run for years, we just wired it up and ran it for about 5 minutes. After that, I thought I better check the oil level... There does...

Alot of the older units did not have a sight glass. They had a dip stick on the fill plug. Over the years they broke off or the oil fill plug was replaced with a newer type that does not have the dip stick. To answer your question dip stick or not I always fill with oil to the bottom of the threads on the fill plug. You should remove the plug and check the oil level before each use on and older unit like this until you have a good handle on how much oil it uses. you may also be able to remove a plug usually on the front of the case lower left side and install a sight glass or low oil level switch. Have a good day!!

I have a VERY OLD Craftsman Air Compressor. I believe it is a 20 gallon 220 volt 2 hp. electric motor. The model number on the side of the compressor (2pistons) unit is 265-104. I don't have any problems...

I've been working on air compressors for a while now and so far haven't found any that give a specific amount of oil to put in the air pump crank case. They all have one of two methods to get the oil to the proper level. First, and my favorite, is a sight glass at the bottom of the crank case. About the size of a quarter, it lets you see how much oil is in the pump as you add it. Usually they have a red center dot which is where you want the oil level. A little over or under is OK but the sight glass should not be completely full or completely empty, both are hard on the pump and drive motor. Another method is a dip stick usually on the end of the fill hole cap. Only bad thing about these is you have to put in some oil, check the oil level with the dip stick, then add more oil and check it with the dip stick until you get to the full mark. Again, not over and only a little under is where you want the oil level.

What would cause load unload sump pressure?

Is this a rotary screw unit? Was it low unloaded sump pressure? If so the most probable cause is the minimum pressure check valve located under the aluminum cap on the seperater tank (oil tank). The check valve piston binds in the housing due to rust, dirt, etc. If you are going to attempt the repair your self I would recommend purchasing rebuild kit before disassembly.
If this problem is with a 2475 unit I would look at the pressure switch. If you are saying the unit starts/stops/starts etc and it is equiped with a low oil level switch the oil level is low. fill it to the oil fill plug threads.

How much oil does the 2475 hold

A 2475 has no way to tell how much oil is in it other than removing the oil fill plug and looking unless a low oil level switch has been installed. You should fill this unit to the bottom of the oil fill plug threads. It's less than 2 quarts. IR does have a spec sheet that tells the exact amount. I don't have it available right now!

HOW DO YOU CHECK THE OIL LEVEL IN A 1981 HONDA 1100GL

Hello,

There is a dip stick located on the right side of the engine about 4 inches to the front of the oil fill cap.

Make sure you are on level ground. Unscrew the dip stick and wipe it off. Replace the dip stick and then remove again. Check the oil level and replace. If you need to add oil, remove the filler cap and add oil 1 to 2 ounces at a time. Check the oil dip stick to ensure that your oil level is correct.

NOTE: warm up your bike before performing the above checks.

Regards,

Oz

CHECHING OIL LEVEL ON 1995 SAAB 900S

The dip stick end is a plastic square piece with two roundish bulbs on each end. The oil level should read just at the bottom of the top bulb (the bulb nearest the yellow cap at the top end of the dip stick). This indicates full.
