I am getting an error code of 00161 and 00163 on my ibm think pad 2635

Vintage IBM ThinkPad TYPE 2635 IBM ThinkPad 380ED no errors told all
is PC dead. NOT TOLD
IS SCREEN DEAD
IS FAN DEAD
DOES IT BEEP CODES, FLASH LED CODES OR TEXT TO SCREEN ERRORS?

Click start control panel administrative tools computer management then select event viewer this may vary depending on what operating system you have extend the events there you will see errors in red you will no what exactly what the error was and at what time it occured or click start type in event viewer press ENTER you might be able work your way through the problem

You can use the laptop with the adapter without a battery. I dont think the parts for this model will be available anymore.

When my Think Pad starts up it shows Error codes 00161 and 00163

You can get an adapter such as an DB9/com port to USB or LPT to USB adapter and you'll be able to connect a USB device or USB hub to your ThinkPad.

Your problem sounds like the system isn't finding the hard disk

The answer is very simple, Use Restore disc to Reinstall the Operating system.

From what you are stating it seems like your backlight in your lcd needs to be replaced. Plug an external monitor up to your laptop. Press the fn & f key (the one with the picture of a monitor in it.) Your diplay should project to the monitor. Display is ok.....replace the backlight.
