Open Control Panel - Sound and Audio devices - check the sound volume, move to high if required and Mute is not selected. Next click on Sound tab and select a Windows and click on the play button, if the play button is greyed out then the audio driver is either not installed or not working. In this case install your model audio driver.

Re-Install the drivers from the system disk that came with your computer. If no disk, go to the website and download the drivers for your model computer.
go to control panel... system... device manager and check that there isnt any ! in the audio devices. If you do find one then you need to install the drivers to your sound card.
