The USB Ports on my ACER TravelMate 2350 Series Laptop, I have deleted the USB Port files from Device Manager and the machine reinstalled them when I re-started but it didn't change anything. I downloaded all of the files and deleted and re-installed but still no go.

Hello,

I'm guessing your USB ports don't work or does it always ask you to install them. If you have your Windows XP license key at hand, please try downloading and installing the following...

Acer TravelMate 2350 XP Chipset Driver

Reboot. It might ask you to do a reactivation, or not.
Please recheck if your USB ports still work. If not, restart your machine, hit F8 continously until you get many options - choose the option "Safe mode" and press Enter. Check if it picks up USB in this Safe mode.

What you can also try, is that you have 3 different USB 2.0 ports on your machine. Try each one separately and see if one of them works. I would also recommend to see if the USB device you are trying to use is actually functional.

I have an ACER TravelMate 2355LCi Laptop. It has 2 USB Ports in the rear and 1 USB Port on the left hand side (if you are facing screen). None of them work. Are thre any drivers that can be downloaded for...

Hi!

What you could do is first check in the device manager. Go to control panel and click on system. From there on the top click on hardware. Then click on device manager. Look for any icons that would have an X, ?, or ! on it. If they do right click then click update.

If that still does not work go this page

and download all the drivers including the chipset and reinstall them.

I hope this helps.

When I plug a wireless cable into a USB port, the computer tells me that there are High speed USB ports available but does not inform where to find them.

Right-Click on My Computer, Properties, Device Manager, then Click on Universal Serial Bus Controllers, u will see the USB port available on your computer there. Also, at the same time you are doing this, try checking all the USB ports on your computer...most times, the HIGH-Speed USB Ports (USB 2.0) are always seperated from the other USB ports...so try the USB port seperated from others.
In your own case, Acer TravelMate 2303LCi has just 3 USB slots, a PC card slot, modem and network slot. No floppy drive, no TV-out, no IR, no Wi-Fi. So check-out USB Ports, the USB port infront of the Laptop beside the Audio Port and and the Speaker, on the extreme-right is your USB 2.0 High-Speed Port.

Hi i have an acer laptop 5000 series the usb ports will not work saying power surge overloaded, would buying a usb card solve the problem.Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,
are you using windows xp sp2, this issue normally occurs with it
a fast fix is:
go to start menu> run > type in devmgmt.msc > ok

1) Device Manager will open

2) Locate "Universal Serial Bus controllers" in the list and expand

3) Select the first USB Universal Host Controller.

4) Right click and select "Properties"

5) Go to the "Advanced" tab

6) Check "Don't tell me about USB errors"

7) Click "OK"

Note. If you have multiple host controllers then they should all be affected by the above action.

8) Close Device Manager

USB Ports Stopped Working

Well let me be the first to say I see you have skills. All of your troubleshooting is exactly by the book. The only thing I see that was not checked is the CMOS (BIOS) setup screen to make sure that the USB function is enabled there. Good luck and let me know how it goes, we have a couple of hundred years of experience at FixYa so keep me updated if you have any more problems.
