I'm trying to update a new 200GB HD. But the computer keeps restarting. I've checked BIOS Drtup to ne sure it boots from DVD drive, but it does not access. The BIOS version is from 2006 so I assumed it should recognize the HD. Every time I reinstall the 100GB original drive it works asl always. With an external HD box I've checked the HD and it workd perfectly as an external one, but that's not the idea. Any suggestions? Thanks
I have p1 express dual, i have put windows 7 ,2 gb ram , and upgrade HD to 250 7200rpm, i only have to run a cd so i update the bios. my email is [email protected] it took me many hours of searching to find it, i ll send it to anybody i dont believe that even lg company has that bios, is from ''phoenix''
Hello
I also have LGP1
I updated the HD to 160Gb (5600rpm) ant it works great
I updated also the memory to 2.5Gb and is the same, nothing changed(initial it was 1Gb)
I'm looking to bios upgrade, but nothing
I will never buy a LG again
Dan.
I Use Windows XP Home service Pack 2 on the LG P1 Express dual. Which I bought on septembre 2006. The Hard drive is a 200 GB Toshiba SATA 4200 rpm. Nothing has benn solved to the present. The only news I have is that the BIOS only supports up to 190 GB, I will try to buy a 160GB to try it out, but not yet. LG computer are acceptable but no further service or client support. I´ll never buy one again. I would anyway like to have a 300GB Hard drive. If you figure out a solution please share it. I will too, also if I see that the 160GB HD works.Thanks.
What is the make of your hard drive, laptop and what version of windows are you runing?

Hello!
I have the same issue ..
This is due to an BIOS 'feature' which does not support 48-bit LBA.
Normally this would be no big deal, but LG does not provide a BIOS upgrade.
(That's what I just got as a reply from them)
See this site about 137gb barrier!

I think LG is just trying to make us buy another LapTop, since the BIOS upgrade is no big issue.
A Laptop dated 2006 (as is mine) should have that larger disk drive support.
I will not give in, and find a solution ...
Cheers,
Andreas
