Reinstall your sound card driver using the driver cd that came with the system. download Media Codecs. if same hing happened. you an download VLC player to play you video file instead of using media player.

Problem in getting sound

Check does you sound driver is install OK!!! If not
(right-click My Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager) for unknown/improperly installed devices.
Visit you SOUND manufacturer’s website, and download drivers along with the installation instructions!!! After that it will work just fine!!!!
