I have a 97 RAV4 which runs well but is making noise - most often when sitting at a stop - whne moving, or if shifted to neural it goes away??

Depends on the noise you're getting, but that sounds like it might be a belt issue. They make a whiny, high pitched sound like a loud squeak especially at low rpm's.

I replaced the timing belt on my 1999 toyota Rav4 and I want to setthe timing. Will you assist me to reset the timing properly?

The timing is not likely adjustable. Assuming the belt was put in correctly and everythiing was lined up perfectly , it should be good to go.

How do you replace the timing belt on a 1998 Toyota Rav4?

Not near enough space here to walk you through the procedure. I suggest that you purchase a repair manual for your RAV4 at any auto parts store. It will have photos and detailed instructions. Also replace the water pump at the same time, as it is driven by the cam belt. Belt should be replaced every 90,000 miles.

My 2006 Toyota Rav4 it has 70,000 miles on it. I look in the owner maintenance manual and it doesn't say anything about replace timing belt at 60,000 miles like many others. Does this vehicle use timing...

Hello. Welcome to FixYa.
Please allow us to assist you.

We have good news for you.

Your vehicle does not have a timing belt. Your vehicle has a timing chain; there is no suggested replacement interval for the newer engines with timing chains.

There is no need to concern yourself with the expense of replacing the timing chain, as it will never need replaced.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance today.

Hey the water pump just went in my 1998 toyota rav4 2litre. how do i go about replacing it ? i cant find anywhere on here

Your water pump is driven by your timing belt, can not be seen with out remove timing belt cover, to replace you will also have to remove timing belt, if timing belt has not been replace best to replace it now also, timing belt should be replace every 60,000 miles. make sure before removing timing belt that you mark where all pulley gear's are at, so when you install the timing belt back on there in the same place as before you move the timing belt, no need to mark water pump gear, good luck, hope this was very helpful.
