Try to clean boot your computer.

  • on safe mode, click start > run > type msconfig
  • you have several tabs there, go on Startup tab, click on Disable All button
  • go to Service tab, it's on the right of Startup tab, put a check mark on "Hide all Microsoft services". make sure you have a check mark there. then click on Disable all button.
  • click on Ok
  • the computer will ask you if you want to restart or exit without restart, restart the computer
  • when you see your desktop after restarting, put a check mark on "Don't show this message again"
  • observe the computer if it will still freeze.

My Toshiba Satellite L455D-S5976 will not boot past the starting windows screen an freezes in safe mode i have a windows 7 disc but it dont read it when i put it in what do i do?

please tell me what you want to do, you want to install the windows 7 again or want to repair the start up issue? if you want to install again, insert your W7 disc to CDROM and boot up. on restart together with the brand logo at the bottom of the screen you will see function keys. try to look for boot option. then press that key. it will then give you the option where you want to boot your computer. choose your CDROM drive and save settings. let it restart and load to your W7 disc.

thanks

Toshiba satellite L675 freezes after startup. Windows &

Boot the computer into "Safe Mode".

To boot PC into Safe Mode follow these steps:

1. Turn the computer on or Restart the computer
2. Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Boot Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
3. Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected, not Repair Your Computer
4. Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
5. When you are finished with troubleshooting, close all programs and restart the computer as you normally would

If the computer boots into Safe Mode you can try disabling Startup Programs, one of these might be causing your computer to freeze. To do this follow these steps:

1 Press Start. Type msconfig into the search bar and press Enter. For XP, click on Run and type msconfig there.

If it is OK in safe mode, I would download updated VGA driver from www.toshiba.com also worth checking any other drivers while there. They are all free of charge and it is an easy system to drive.

hi there,
thanks for providing the OS type.
The issue may be with any hardware or software you recently installed /uninstalled.,

It may also be due to the reason that some Hardware has stopped its function alltogather or has got a wrong update.

We may diagnose the issue by;
1. restart in Safe mode. Resolved? No
2. Restart F8: VGA mode

Still not fixed?

3. restart in safemode again,
Go Start>Run> Msconfig
startup tab;
uncheck not necessary items .(You need to be most decisive in this step)
4. ok.
5. shtdown.
6. reboot in safe mode

Worked?

Last resort:

I have a toshiba laptop & half the keys on the keyboard won't work

Try to go first to Safe Mode.

Bring up the "Start" menu. Select the "Shut Down" option and then click "Restart."

Wait for the Toshiba Satellite A105 laptop to begin its restart procedure. Press the "F8" key at regular intervals (every 3-4 seconds) when the Toshiba logo pops up on the screen.

Continue tapping the "F8" button until the advanced Windows options menu appears. Use the down arrow key to scroll through the list of advanced Windows options.

Highlight the option labeled "Safe Mode." Press the "Enter" key and wait for the operating system to load in safe mode.

On Safe Mode try to use the keys that are not working if it's woking it's a software problem and you need to have a System Restore for the laptop.

If it's still not working go to BIOS Settings of the laptop try to reset it to default settings.

Hit the "Power" button to turn on the computer. Press the F2 key on the keyboard. This must be done prior to the operating system loading; if the Windows OS logo has popped up, it is too late. Boot into Windows, restart the computer, and try again.

Pressing F2 on a Toshiba laptop takes you directly into the BIOS, and any settings can now be changed.

If you have successfully entered the BIOS Phoenix press F9 there will be an option that will pop out after pressing F9 the choose yes, after that press F10 there will be an option that says "Save and Quit." This will save any changes you've made, exit out of the BIOS, and restart the computer. Choose yes again, after that process the laptop will boot up now to your Windows Screen.

Try to use again the keys that are not working, if it's still not working definitely that's a hardware problem, you need to contact Toshiba Technical Support here's the phone number

800-247-7777

to assist you further with this problem or you can drop your laptop to a nearest Authorize Service Provider for Toshiba near in your place.

Hope this helps. :-)

Frozen Toshiba P100

Try This. Restart your computer and as soon as it boots up tap the F8 key repeatedly until you see windows advanced options menu. select safe mode. when it asks you for the operating system just hit enter. as soon as it boots to safe mode do this. click start> run> type msconfig then hit enter. On the system configuration utility click on the startup tab then select disable all. Click apply then close. restart your computer again. It may be a corrupted startup program that is preventing your computer to boot up properly.
