The Visioneer 4400 Flatbed is a common USB scanner, so you should be able to connect it to your PC with a standard USB cable you can buy on your local computer store or everywhere on the net (Amazon, eBay, etc...)

Please make sure all the cords are connected properly between the scanner and the PC.Next have you tired using another USB cable wire?
Also make sure you have the latest drivers for your scanner.

Hello ! I have the correct driver for the Visioneer 5300 / 7600 USB scanner. It will work with Windows XP and Vista. I can provide you a copy with complete installation instructions. Please e-mail me at: [email protected] , Subj: 7600 driver.

Not sure if your problem is the same as mine, but I encountered the same error and only to find that I plugged in a wrong power adapter so it didn't have enough power to advance the scanner head (My moving caused this mixup). Check your power adapter OUTPUT is 12V (or whatever is specified on the scanner itself, usually found on the label on the bottom or rear).

The scanner bulb is getting to hot. Check power adapter voltage output or replace if is getting to hot

read on another site, get a new power cord.
