Hi, If its a smell other then electrical burning, I would say it is coming from the evaporator coil inside. Take out the filter and clean it if it is the washable type and try and clean the coil. They make coil cleaner you may be able to get at your RV dealer to do this. This is the only thing I can think of that would have any odor. Unless there is something outside it is drawing in. The system is sealed and would not emit any odors other then a hot motor. You can check up top by removing cover to check the motors and to see if any critters have crawled inside. Let me no, keep me posed on what you find and if you need more help.
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7
PS Check the indoor blower motor also, it may be getting hot and ready to fail.

I have a rooftop coleman ac unit on my RV. It works good at night but in the day when its in the 90's the fan runs but the compressor cuts in for abot 2 sec, and kicks out and the is an electrical odor...

Sounds like your "Compressor Run Capacitor" has cooked. Need to replace it, but not something you should be doing if inexperienced with capacitors and electrical. Capacitors store voltage at a higher rating such as 250-370volts, and can give a fatal shock if not handled properly. Technician, or electrician should only charge about $25-$35 for part, and 1/2 hr. labor to replace it. Just watch for Bees/Wasps when removing the cover on roof, to get to it.

Rooftop RV air conditioner fan doesn't blow when turned on

Check the breaker that supplies power to it, if it is tripped, remove indoor cover or outdoor cover and make sure blower/condensor motor can turn by hand.

If it does, then it is more likely that the compressor
has shorted out.

Rooftop RV Air Conditioner: my duotherm rv ac rooftop 15,000 btu the free...

If it's the pencil type, it just pokes into the fins (carefully)
If you look real close with flashlight you should be able to see where it poked in before, usually a couple of inches up from bottom. If it's the little round disc, it snaps in down in bottom corner, there should be a small hole for it in the frame.
