My Dometic digital thermostat wont go up past 32 degrees. What could be wrong?

When I try to set my thermostat, it wont allow me to go past 32 degrees. Also, the air conditioner will not come on. The fan works though.

Thank you so much!! We searched Google for an answer as we were having the same problem and found this forum. We are currently are at the beach and even though one AC was working fine it can't do it all. So we were panicking and seeing $ signs. Your response not only saved the original enquiry I'm sure but thank you so much bc it saved us as well.

It could be the set up settings. Limits for Heat, for cool, or differential settings between the two, may need to change heating setting to allow the cooling setting adjustment. A installation manual may include instructions but take note of each setting before and after for ease of reverting.

You need to read the manual. There is a maximum heat and minimum cool set point setting in the programming. Possibly they have been set at those points. You are contradicting yourself on the cooling, to bring on cooling you turn the temp down, not up. Make sure you are on cool.

First I tried the reset did not work. Then cleaning ends of wires with cleaner - did not work. Try leaving the unit on fan all night. The sensor can get moister. Leaving the unit running will dry it out, Tried it on mine when it showed 32d. on the front air. It did show correct temp. on rear air. When i got up in the morning it was reporting the correct inside temp. allowing the air conditioner to come on. I think it was a moisture problem here in Fla.

SOURCE: will not shut off

Sounds like a stuck relay on the unit itself. Maybe there is a short in the control wire that comes from the thermostat that activates the fan.

The thermostat probably has one hot wire at all times. The thermostat then chooses which wire to send the voltage down based on your selection. One of those wires is probably for the fan only. Make sure that it is in good condition (no bare, pinched or wires)

SOURCE: Error code of E4 on Dometic HP air conditioner ??

16. SYSTEM RESET
a. Turn the ON/OFF switch to “OFF” position.
b. Simultaneously depress and hold the MODE and ZONE
push-buttons while turning the ON/OFF switch to “ON”.
FF should appear in the LCD display until the MODE
and ZONE push-buttons are released.
c. When a dip switch is turned on or off after initial configu
ration, a system reset will need to be done before the
Comfort Control CenterTM will recognize the updated selection. Try this. This is for the five button thermostat. Did you check the dip switches to be sure the proper ones are turned on? I need to know which stat you have 4 or 5 button. I have trouble shooting for both.
If you notice reset needs to take place after a dip switch is turned on or off. The dip switches are on the circuit board. You need to drop the lower cover. the dip switches will read in this order #1 heat strip/ #2 zone2/#3zone3/ #4 zone4/#5 furnace/#6 differential/#7stag/#8 gen start. Check this out and be careful. Turn off the stat to change dip switches. On will be toward the description. If you don't have remote start gen set the dip should not be on. If you dont have a Zone 3 the dip should not be on, etc.

SOURCE: RV air conditioner. Compressor running, fan stops before cool

The fan motor is getting hot and going off on the internal overload in the motor.
This is caused by either a low voltage, a bad capacitor, or tight or dry bearings in the motor.
To check the bearings turn the power off to the unit, then spin the fan blade if it spins freely then the bearings are ok.
To check the capacitor you will need some kind of tester or you can buy a capacitor and replace it, that's what a lot of people do. They usually don't cost very much.
To check the voltage you will need a voltmeter and measure the volts at the unit.

SOURCE: My Dometic air conditioner is

Hi,
That simply means it is not cooling...
To troubleshoot you will need to go up top and remove the cover...then check for power to the compressor... if you have power then check to see if it is running... if so then you have a refrigerant leak...if not the compressor is bad...

if no power then trace backwards to see where the power stops at...

We have a 2016 Montana 5th wheel with a Dometic refrigerator. The freezer works fine but the refrigerator will only cool to 40 degrees. We would also like to change the stainless panels to black

$0 degrees is about right. If you go much lower towards 32 you will have stuff freeze on you in fridge compartment. Maybe your thermostat is shutting off compressor prematurely and you can try replacing it with another.

Roof a/c's wont come on unless you set temp to 55 degrees

Tried another thermostat? Also check that where thermostat is mounted isn't a warm zone, that is detecting higher temperatures. Put another thermostat on wall beside it to check. Another thing is to take thermostat of the wall and let it hang and try it. I've had some where warm air was blowing/sucking past hole for wiring in wall, and throwing thermostat off.

Wont allow me to set thermostat below 73 degrees?

You never said what type and model of thermostat you have....... If you have a digital stat You may have to lower the HEAT setting below 67 degrees if you want to set the AC to 70 degrees. If the thermostat has an Auto feature then it has to have a 3 degree differences between heating and cooling. On the newer models it does it automatically if you lower the Cooling setting it will lower the heating setting......It this doesn't help repost with more information so I can help you better....
