Hi,

I am assuming that you are connecting the Dell PC to the Samsung 40 inch flat screen by VGA connector/cable.

Perhaps what might be causing no display in the Samsung FlatScreen is that the video signal it is receiving is beyond its capability. To correct this, pls:
1. lower screen resolution of your laptop's properties.
2. it may also be of help if you likewise lower the screen refresh rate.
Both of the above may be adjusted through the appropriate settings in your Display Properties of the Dell PC before you remove the monitor.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FIXYA.

Your computer is set to a resolution supported by your dell monitor but not the flat screen tv.

The easiest way to get it working is to turn the computer off, connect the flat panel to the computer and then turn the computer on.

To change the resolution of the flat-panel or monitor, right-click on the desktop, click on properties and then select the settings tab.

play with the screen resolution and find one that works best by trying each one and clicking apply. If you select a resolution not supported by your flat panel, computer will automatically revert to the previous resolution in 15 secs.

My syncmaster 730MW used to take some mins before coming on..then it got to an hour, now it gone of completely what do i do?

> what do I do ?

Spend $50 to $100 at any TV/video repair-shop, for trouble-shooting and repair.

Or, spend $40 to $50 to buy a used 17-inch LCD screen, or $100 to buy a new 19-inch LCD screen.

When i go to pc mode on my aquos 42 inch the background and screen is blue not the blue screen of death the set is 2 yrs old

That sounds like a resolution problem. If you have a PC attached to the TV, unplug the monitor cable, and plug a computer monitor to the computer. Change the resolution down to 1024x768, then try plugging back into the TV

I have a Dell cpu and a Dell flat screen monitor . The monitor was working fine last night. When I tried to check e-mail this morning the monitor would not boot up. Instead the on/off button is slowly...

try to hook it up to a different monitor first to verify its the monitor problem and not a bios, driver, or pc problem. if an alternate monitor works, then you know something happened to you original display! If the alternate does not work either, but it does work other machines, then its something else: graphics card, wiring, etc. hope this analysis quickens your solution.

Computer screen is black

Two things come to mind...

If the monitor is fitted with moister sensors it will as a safety measure not turn on, this can be due to damp in the room etc.

Second and more probable is the fuse has blown on the circuit board to the monitor. you will unplug power lead open back up and look for a smaller than plug size fuse which is chrome ended and clear glassed. About 3/4 inch long and 1/8th dia.

Ensure these are replaced with a similar graded fuse. Maplins is a safe bet to obtain them. best to take old one in with you.

Dell flat screen started flashing, green light was blinking then screen went blank and green light is on. Tried unplugging etc...time for a new one?

No. It is not a Flat Screen issue. It is a CPU issue. You CPU is not sending signal to your flat screen so the green light is flashing. Try to:

1. Reset OR
2. Unplug the CPU case, Open the CPU, the interchange the RAM modules, OR
3. Same with step 2 but unplug and then plug back in all expansion cards like audio, video cards, etc.

It seems that your system needs discharging from a frozen state.

Regards!

Colored vertical lines on monitor

Have you unplugged the power cord to the LCD? Let it sit for a minute, then try it. ALWAYS buy a UPS and plug any computer devices into it. Doesn't have to be big, a $50 unit will protect it from dangerous voltage surges.
