How do I get rid of flashing Display mode out of range message

Terry, That monitor only has VGA in port. So it sounds like the computer VGA out port is not sending a correct 1024 x 768 at 75 Hz signal to the monitor. The problem could be a defective video card. Thank You, Dell-Jesse L Dell Social Media and Communities

After monitor is turned on, it goes blank after a few seconds...

Sounds like the cable that connects the monitor to the computer hass a loose wire connection in it.
When it turns green, try flexing the cable near the connectors and see if the color changes on the monitor. I suspect that you have a wire in the cable that was not soldered properly by the manufacture.
If it changes color, I'd contact who you bought it from and have them replace it.
Hope thid helps. Bud

When i on the monitor

Right now the backlights circuits go into shutdown, this can be due to bad power supply because of the bad caps, bad fuse in the inverter circuits, bod solder joints, bad lamp assembly, etc. It will require in-depth troubleshooting.

Does not power on.

Yes, there is a main AC in the bottom center of the board as shwon here:
http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/DELL/Dell%20E152FPC/?action=view&current=e152fpc.jpg

Look for bad caps with domed tops as shown also.
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on: Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/ Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

The monitor will turn on with the green power

First let's try to find out the culprit, remove/unplug the monitor and connect it to another computer using the same cable, if it's working fine, then check the System. (If not skip the next para).

Disconnect all the cables connected to the system, like mouse, keyboard, power cord, etc... etc.. and leave it off for few minutes, again reconnect whatever is required (not all, if you have additional usb cables, you can connect them later, sometimes usb interferes with the display), once you are ready, power on the machine and enter the "Bios Setup" and restore it to Default, i.e. "Optimized Default" or something similar which is in the "Exit" menu. After it's done, save the settings (Press F10) and let it restart. While it boots up, keep tapping F8 and when you see the "Advanced Boot Options" menu, select "Safe Mode" and boot into "Safe Mode", if everything is ok with the Safe Mode, restart the system and let it boot normally. If the problem's no longer persists, then you are done, but if the problem persists, make sure the system is still running normally. Try tapping the Numlock/Capslock to assure it's still running. If it seems hanged, you better try with another monitor or replacing a ram or uninstalling recently installed hardwares, etc...etc..

If the monitor doesn't work on another computer, no doubt, it's with the monitor or with the cable, try with another cable and check again.

Sometimes motherboard itself or the Bios chip could be the problem, but let's deal with them later. For now try to find out the cause and the troubleshooting will be easier for you and for me.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Display goes out after 1 second.

You need to open it up and look for bad solder joints first at the AC inlet, then check the fuse and the transistors in the inverter circuits. Please look at my pictures of Dell monitors here so you will know what to look for inside:

The monitor screen lights up, then goes dark.

I assume that you get the same symptom when you hook this up to another PC. You will need to open it up and check the fuse, solder connections, etc. Please see pictures here for guide: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

No video

Try this:

While powered and connected to the computer, shine a very high powered flashlight on the screen. You should see a faint shadow of the display from the computer. If so, your inverter board or backlights are blown. If not, the LCD controller matrix may be blown. Either way, I would suggest just getting a new monitor.

Dell flat screen started flashing, green light was

No. It is not a Flat Screen issue. It is a CPU issue. You CPU is not sending signal to your flat screen so the green light is flashing. Try to:

1. Reset OR
2. Unplug the CPU case, Open the CPU, the interchange the RAM modules, OR
3. Same with step 2 but unplug and then plug back in all expansion cards like audio, video cards, etc.

It seems that your system needs discharging from a frozen state.

Regards!

Monitor powers on for appx 1 second then goes dark. LED is on.

Hello,
You have a classic capacitor problem. If you are ok with soldering you should be able to repair it. You can remove the back cover and look for the bad capacitors, replace any that are raised on top. I can send you pictures of what to look for if you need them.

My monitor goes dim after a few minutes

Hello,

How dim is dim? If the picture is still visible just like half as bright then your have backlight tube problem and unit LCD needs to be replaced, not worth repair price. If the picture goes out almost to a black screen where you can just bairly see a faint image then you hold the screen just right then you have a backlight inverter issue. If the problem is the inverter then you should be able to replace a few parts and get your unit back going. If you think you can open the unit up and maybe solder a few parts then I would open the case and look for bad capacitors on the power supply board. I can send you pictures of what to look for if you are interested. We also have a repair service for those units, most power issues run $15.00 plus shipping. Let me know if you need help opening the unit and checking parts.
