Seagate Barracuda 200 GB 7200 RPM

I have two harddrives, one is 200 GB and other is 80 GB...

I have kept 200 GB as slave..... Recently when I checked with a software "HDD inspector".... I came to know that 200 GB is almost near to fail( I have got a solution for it)

My query is the other harddrive's overall performance is 69% but the software shows that its "Death Time Estimation" is on 8th April 2008 !

Here is the snap of my harddrive current status according to "HDD inspector ... Plz provide me some information and also solution .....

    These inspector death date guesses arent that serious, unless your drives fitness starts to drop rapitly keep a eye on it. If noting happens then its fine. A friend of mine used a similiar program and it told him that hes harddrive was going to fail in few days. Well hes still useing the same drive now. that was few years ago.

How do I set my 7200 Seagate drive as slave

Look at the diagram on the drive, you will need a jumper

MA = Master
SL = Slave
CS = Cable Select

If it's EIDE use the center connector on the cable

Seek rate problem in Seagate 200 GB

Hey, I recommend you test the harddrive with seagates own tools.

http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools/

I recommend the dos version.

Also try active smart
http://www.ariolic.com/activesmart/index.html

I would recommend backing up all the data from the drive, and then if the drive still has problems You should send it for warranty repairs. Shouldnt cost a thing.

You can also take it to a local pc repair shop to get all the data copyed and then sent to warranty service if nessasary it will cost thought if you do it via a shop.
