Wont drain? My dishwasher will not drain. I ran a load and now there is standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher. I had problems with my disposal earlier and think maybe it progressed down the pipe.
If you have an air gap on the sink from the dishwasher and water is leaking out here into the sink instead of the drain it is probably plugged from there to the disposer or "P" trap in the drain line, also check the sump screen and down in there for food particles still there

I have the same problem with another Kitchenaid model. I've had better results at keeping the water drained by running two back to back water saver cycles than running a full pots and pans cycle.

Hi,
Here is a tip that I wrote that will help you with your dishwasher not draining
problem...
I had a similar problem when my dishwasher wouldn't drain and was causing the kitchen sink to back up. I poured a little drain cleaner in the bottom of the tub (where the drain holes are) and let it stand for about 15 minutes then ran a hot rinse cycle (don't put any dishes in the dishwasher while you're doing any of this). The water still hadn't all drained but after a day or two of not using the dishwasher it drained on it's own and hasn't had any problems since. I would recommend reading your manual to make sure that using drain cleaner doesn't void any warranty you may have. Also, it's a good idea to do an empty rinse cycle at least once so that there's no chemicals getting on your dishes.
you might have a blockage in your air gap or your garbage disposal line. check those areas first. do you hear the pump humming and not pushing any water through or do you hear is poushing the water through but just trickling through the garbage disposal? let me know
Did you hook it up to the garburator, did you oppen the tab at garburator, is there a kink at the drain hose, Is the hose to high or low or pinched. Is the orrifice to drain big enough , do you have a clogged drain.
