Hi. We have a 14 yr old fridge. We turned it off 2 years ago for storage. We have plugged it in and it no longer gets cold. Is it fixable?

I have a Frigidaire FFU21D7HW2 upright freezer that doesn't get cold. The compressor is working & I've tried hitting the thermostat dial as well as turning it to off position and turning it to the highest...

Checking air flow to the hear exchanger, is the compressor getting hot to touch, are there any kinks in the pipes, does it get cool at all? otherwise, a re-gas is the next step.

Does not seem to be cold enough ten yrs old

Hi, first check your coils on the back and make sure they are clean, then check the cover on the front bottom and make sure it is clean. If it is all clean and still running warm then it may need to be recharged with freon. At that point you should contact a heating/cooling technician to come out and recharge your system. They are the only ones licenced to handle the freon to recharge your cooling system on the fridge.

Need to connect the water line to the ice maker

Hi Joanna,
All you'll need is a 6' long piece of tubing. One that's got a 1/4" compression fitting on both ends. You can get one at a Home Depot or Lowe's (and you can see what I'm talking about here).

Install is a breeze. Just roll your fridge out enough so you can get behind it. Hook up one end of the tubing to the valve on the wall and the other end to the connector on the fridge (that should be near the bottom on the right side... but it could be on the left), tighten both connections really snug and turn the water on at the valve on the wall. <--- remember "righty tighty, lefty loosey". Then use a flashlight and look for any leaks (this is crucial, so take your time here). Look carefully at both connections and make sure they don't drip... watch them a minute or so each. After that, all you have to do is roll your fridge back and you're done!

Cool, huh?

Hii have an indeset fridge freezer 2 year old freezer ok fridge not cooling

Usual problem, let it defrost properly, I mean 48 hours with doors open in warm room. It is most likely frozen up inside (its frost free! no?) inside is a different matter and they dont tell you that!

My freezer is about 2 years old, but has been in storage for about a year and a half. The green light comes on, and the motor is running, but it will not get cold or even cool.

Hi ndntwiggy,
Ngafm at your service

Your said, your freezer is about 2 years old, but has been in storage for about a year and a half.
And the green light comes on, and the motor is running, but it will not get cold or even cool.

When a compressor is not run for more than a year, or 2 years there is a possibility that the seals dried out from non use and the freon leaked out.
Compressors have oil in them that when run even once a month will lubricate the seals and keep them soft and moist! .
Just like in the older cars from the 1960's or 70's the air conditioners had to be run once a month even in the winter to keep the seals lubricated or they lost the freon!
Then they started to make the defroster turn the compressor on as to lubricate the seals every time it rained or snowed and you needed the defrosters and this serviced the compressor as in todays cars.!
So you need service to fix it and more than likely it's out of freon refrigerant .
Let me know your end results.

Kenmore Freezer 20.3 cu.ft. won't kick on

Poor mom..:) You need a technician for that problem. But much better if you buy new one because your unit is already 14 yrs old the labor and parts are expensive. For this problem I think the compressor is already burned or stuck up.
